Meachem fans Saints fever
 

BILOXI — Saints fans got a chance to meet one of their heroes at Edgewater Mall on Sunday.

New Orleans Saints receiver Robert Meachem spent the afternoon signing headgear, posters, T-shirts and footballs.

John “Mustang” Malley of Pass Christian was one of the more than 400 fans who lined up to snag an autograph from Meachem.

Gulf Coast Cards & Sports Memorabilia arranged Meachem’s trip.
Most of the fans brought a camera and Meachem posed patiently for every shot. His friend, Houston Texan Jacoby Jones, came along.

“He is like a brother to me, and thought I would bring him along on my trip to Biloxi,” Meachem said. “You know I love signing autographs and talking to the fans. They sometimes feel like they cannot talk to us because we are famous now but then they meet us and find out we are really just regular guys.

“That makes me feel good because the fans are a big part of what we do and how we play.”

Matt Helms, the owner of Gulf Coast Cards & Sports Memorabilia, said he would continue to bring the Saints to the Coast to meet the fans.
All-time leading rusher and fan favorite Deuce McAllister for the Saints will be signing autographs at the shop March 20.

For all you North Louisiana Who Dats, Tracy Porter will be signing autographs at Jamie's Field of Dreams in Monroe this Saturday from 1-3 pm. Pierre Thomas will be there the following Thursday from 6-8 pm.

Crap! I've alraedy committed to an Eagle Court of Honor on Saturday at 1:00. I would drive to Monroe to see those two guys! If you hear of any others keep us posted, especially if you hear of any in Shreveport. Thanks D.

What a difference a year makes- if Meach was scheduled to sign autographs in March last year maybe 3 people would have shown up.

He seems to be on the same development path as Henderson- we were all calling for their heads, and now both are reliable receivers. Hope the 3-year-plan trend continues with Arrington

That is what I like to hear - "I love seeing the fans & signing autographs"

To many of these overpriced gurhurts don't see any importanc ein the fans.
