Pro Football's Mock Draft

I just bought the new Pro Football's Draft Guide 2010, and their mock draft was interesting. The picks they had for the Saints most interesting. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of their picks for us. I am also going to give the comments they made as well.

Round 1. Terrance Cody, DT, Alabama - Even as a part-time player, Mount Cody will serve to upgrade a leaky run defense.

Round 2. Chad Jones, S, LSU - The local product becomes Darren Sharper's heir apparent.

Round 3. Rennie Curran, LB, Georgia - An aggressive linebacker who fits well into Gregg Williams scheme.

Round 4. Colin Peek, TE, Alabama - (No comments)

*No 5th Round pick*

Round 6. Chris Brown, RB, Oklahoma - (No comments)

Round 7. Chris Hawkins, CB, LSU - (No comments)

My thoughts on this list, is that after the first pick, they didn't seem to put much thought into the rest. I don't see us picking a TE at round 4, and I think LB, and S should be switched in their rounds. I don't know about Cody as our first pick either. I would prefer Williams, or Price over Cody at DT, and also, I think DE is more important than safety at this point.

Re: Pro Football's Mock Draft

I like the idea of drafting Cody. He has a tremendous motor and comes from an SEC team, so he knows what real competition is all about. I'm not sure where he fits in our present defensive schemes...because I sure didn't take the time to read some of the hooh-hah in earlier threads.

We could do a lot worse than Cody at 32 BUT I still think we need a more versatile player on the outside of our front 7

But could you imagine what Ellis could do w Cody being doubled????

(SaintPaul - love the avatar!!)

I agree we do need someone a little more versitile & not just a part time player.

With a glut of defensive linemen available this year we may have a really nice choice - even at number 32.

Of course that pick is because... WE WON THE SUPER BOWL!!! (sorry I never get tired of saying it, thinking it - heck I tear up as I watch the SB highlights!!)

Re: Pro Football's Mock Draft

Round 1: Brandon Graham DE
Round 2: Brandon Spikes LB
Round 3: Mitch Petrus OG
Round 4: Ciron Black OT
Round 6: Walter McFadden CB
UDFA: Antonio Baker S
FA: Jamal Williams
Also, finally let Adrian Arrington play.

What do you guys think?

We better get our LB or DE on at this stage of the game. Weatherspoon, Washington, Hughes or Lee. Dunlap, Griffen, Morgan or Graham.

I do like Chad Jones though. Not much for Hawkins but at round 7 why not? Chris Brown is interesting and possible.

I like jcp's mock better.

No problem with this draft. Cody can be a two down run stuffing specialist and come off for Hargrove on passing situations. Chad Jones would be a great special teams player as a rookie and could be groomed to play either safety position. Curran is undersized and timed slow at the Combine but plays quicker. Another player who would be valuable on special teams early on and could see the field in certain blitz packages. Peek is a decent all around TE. Dont like the Brown pick - better situational backs available. And we have seen plenty of Hawkins in Baton Rouge. Overall I would be happy with this class.
