WHich one do you like??

Ok the Saints are bringing in three long time veterans this week...

Leonard Little (DE) - played sparingly at St. Louis last year - did have 6 sacks BUTMissed the last 3 games with a knee infection (???)

Jamal Williams (DT) - played only one game last year for SD & then set out with a tricepts injury

James Hall (DE) - Also St. Louis, also the youngest of the three (only 10 year vet as opposed to 12 year) & a local product.

None of them really grabs attention. 5 years ago maybe.

Jamal Williams is a hoss. If we can't draft Terrance Cody or Cam Thomas, we should try to sign him for a reasonable price. He and Ellis would stop those huge runs up the middle. So what if he's an older player, so is Darren Sharper. If he can't play he gets cut and we haven't lost anything.

Where's the youth in this bundle. Veterans are a great part of any team, but we are talking football. Things hurt more and hurt longer the more snaps you take. We need players that can snap back from the nicks and the bruises; and players that we can count on for a few years. There are always the one year deals that are used to fill in the gaps until a permanent plug can be found, but there is a limit. Like some of the other guys, I would go Grant again before rolling the dice like this.

We tried the old guys approach last season and none made it out of training camp...

You need young DL who can bring it as stong in the first quarter in Week 1 as well as guys who can finish the fourth quarter in the Superbowl...

Maybe they are looking for camp bodies...?

We don't need camp bodies. I would thinka lot of players want to come to NO now that we have won the Super Bowl (wow did you ever think we would be able to say that??)

jamal williams wouldnt come in as a backup

a 3 time pro bowler and 2 time all pro

as recently as 2006 and 2007

dude has been injured and missed significant time only once in his career.....guess who else we have on our team who had a serious injury...

jamal williams is a stud and could fix our huge need at DT

for some reason nobody understands how terrible our run defense was last season

our pass defense stunk because of injuries to jabari greer and tracy porter.....well why did our run defense stink? cuz kendrick clancy got hurt? lmao

we need to focus on run defense first and williams would fill a huge need

You're right, people don't realize how bad our run defense was last year because the pass defense was able to force turnovers and save their butts until Greer and Porter got hurt. As soon as they came back the SB run started. But I think DT is a position that you can draft a young guy and he can come in and start immediately just like Ellis did. I don't know that I would want an older DT whose knees have been banged for 9 or 10 years.

I agree our run defense needs a shot in the arm...maybe I would pursue other options though.

Jamal Williams signed with the Bronco's earlier this morning. I guess you can take him off the poll.

Re: WHich one do you like??

Williams is a monster in the middle and unless we draft anyone, he would be an upgrade to play next to big Sed.

Add me to those who posted, pass.

I voted for none.

I am getting a bad feeling here.
Saints years before we knew better, what a real win felt like and just winning some games.
Bum Phillips years when Earl Campbell was brought in by Bum from their time on the Oilers, but Earl was really over at Saints time.
Stabler too.
Yeah, I know you need some really good, proven older players to lead and still have game.
Shockey .
You need some good younger players to build with.
Porter. Bush.
