Saints re-sign a couple; more on Darren Sharper's status
Somehow or another, another qualifying offer failed to go reported last week when the Saints were handing them out to their restricted free agent.
Back-up defensive end Jeff Charleston was given the lowest-level qualifying offer meaning the Saints would receive no compensation if he chose to sign with another team and New Orleans declined to match it. His offer is one-year for $1.101 million. Charleston played in all 16 games last season and recorded 10 tackles. Another signing to report is that of seldom-used cornerback Leigh Torrence. Torrence and the team agreed to a one-year contract; financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. He played in 5 games for the Saints last season and recorded 10 tackles. Re: Saints re-sign a couple; more on Darren Sharper's status
Charleston has a great motor but he's just not that physically gifted. But, now the Saints can draft a DE and be good enough at the position. Although, I still think Hargrove should get a shot at DE. I think he could be an impact player there. At DT he's more of a situational player. Then, the Saints could draft a LB or DT in the first round.

I think Charleston is a great backup and he is good on ST. That and he looks like a complete psychopath!
