for the past 2 seasons he has been in our system under one of the best QB coaches in the entire league under the best offensive system in the league

for the past 3 seasons he hasnt gotten to play with starters for a single game

every pass he has thrown has been with backups in the game

except for last season, every season he has played he has never thrown more INTs than TDs and in fact averaged almost twice as many TDs per season than INTs

dude is a quality vet that can teach as well as play. he has been in the league for a long time and has seen everything we could imagine.

He can teach, but he sure as hell can't play anymore.

NFL Videos: Peppers INT

watch this real quick and tell me who jamar nesbit and zach strief blocked.....tell me if lynell hamilton came back towards the ball

and tell me why the heck bushrod was the only one who did the right thing on that play

strief screwed up terribly.....peppers stayed home so strief's job would be to engage him so he cant make the tackle...in this case peppers didnt have to make the tackle because he already had the ball

that play was not brunells fault

NFL Videos: Pre WK1 Can't Miss Play: Meachem catch

watch this one play.....where else can he put the ball so meachem can catch it? not to mention how he avoids the pressure and moves up in the pocket

Re: Back-up QB options?

So, your calculating that Brunell can still produce if Brees goes down because of two plays is just as asinine as you think we are for saying he can't after watching one full game.

Re: Back-up QB options?

Brunell's football smarts are not in question, so it makes no difference who has been coaching him. It's what he can physically still do that is in question. And could it be that he has not played with the starters for three years because he is no longer good enough to warrant playing with them?

It is also not true that every pass he has thrown has been when backups were in the game. In the Carolina game Colston, Meacham, and Bush all were starters and were targeted with passes. He has had some great years....in the past. But when you can't hold onto a starting job over QBs like Byron Leftwich, Patrick Ramsey, Jason Campbell, and Todd Collins, it is indicative that you have lost something off your game. He has been in the league for a long time....perhaps too long. Bottom line though is we all hope we don't have to find out if he still has it or not.

its only a losing battle to the people that wont open their eyes

1 game as an argument? lmao

i know nobody here has ever jumped the gun on somebody

especially not guys like pierre thomas, jolonn dunbar, jason david, jermon bushrod, and robert meachem

its funny how 1 play/game can make or break a players career according to so many posters here

it is true.....colston caught 1 pass on our very first play but who was the TE in the game?.....DINKINS

bush is not a starter and meachem is not a starter

our leading receivers that game were lynell hamilton and darnell dinkins

oh and on that 1 highlight play of peppers interception.....who were our offensive linemen?

jermon bushrod, carl nicks, nick leckey, jamar nesbit, zach strief.....count it....1 starter at arguably the most important part of any football team

with that kind of protection i can see why brunell might not feel so comfortable in the pocket

Re: Back-up QB options?

Oh Ok. Because Dinkins was in the game Brunell had a poor performance. Who really has their eyes closed?
