marques colston is a great player on any team but devery henderson, lance moore, and robert meachem arent really anything but slot receivers right now.....

i wouldnt be surprised to see us draft a WR in the 3rd or 4th round

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

I think with Drew our receivers can be called elite. He doesn't play favorites, he throws to the open receiver. I think if we had any bigger named receivers they may complain about the fewer number of chances. The group we have seem to accept this role so I wouldn't change it at the moment.

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

Henderson has really become a good reciever in the past couple of years & Moore is a fantastic possession receiver (see SB conversion)

COlston is just fantastic. Meechum (book is out but looks good!)

So I think we look pretty good!!

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

As a group they're among the leauges elite. If we had a QB who didn't spread it around as much then we would know how they would rank against WRs on teams that has the majority of passes going to 1-3 guys.

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

once again

Dorin Dickerson, Pittsburgh

TE/FB/RB/WR

Put him in motion and you have a great mismatch.

Height: 6-1. Weight: 226
Combine 40 Time: 4.40.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 43. Arm: 34

there i have talked myself into our #1 target in the draft. One player that can help at 3 positions. cool wonder if he can lb too? wait he did that for a year at Pitt also. Safety?

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

I believe that this is our deepest position. Every one of those players have made some great catches from Drew this year. This could be our best place to open negotiations for a trade to cover a position of need. Our wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson has done an excellent job of making receivers run the right route and catch the ball.
Also, if Adrian Aarington could stay healthy he could be very good too.

Drew is so badass i could catch 50 passes in this offense...lol

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

No point in trying to upgrade this position, everything is fine as it stands. Collectively, this group doesn't drop many passes and usually runs great routes.

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

Let's just look elswhere. This group is among the best in the league and can be mixed and matched to conform and perform in every situation we would need. Payton+Brees+these guys=passing success.

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

We can pretty much plug and play with wr's in this offense but I like our core group, maybe upgrade the position with a better wr who can help in the return game, A. Arrington is WAY TO HYPED on message boards he's made 1 play since he's been here and many want to crown him, he is who we thought he was, a project wr. Colston, Meachem, Lance and Devery with Reggie on the field at the same time, if you were a defense would you want to try and defend or just save the embarrassment and let them have the TD??

Good assessment; but Meachem has been as much a project and was a R1 pick...

The Colston pick has spoiled many of us and we forget how truly blessed the Saints were to stumble onto him...

Re: Position Breakdown: Wide Receiver

( In meachems defense his PT problems were mental things he'd line up in the wrong spot run incorrect routes so SP wouldn't trust him out there)

Great players always fall and get picked up in areas where if they could have a do over would have been picked much higher, its on the scouting dept to evaluate the players instead of watching espn and getting info. The 06 draft class spoiled us as fans and raised our expectations for the scouting dept to an unreasonable level, yes ideally you want to make great decisions for the picks you make and the players you sign but we dont live in a perfect world, for every Marques Colston and Lance Moore we pick up, we may get a Kareem Moore and Talman Gardner so its the luck of the draw.
