Position Breakdown: Tight End

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Shockey and a healthy Miller could mean the second coming of Brenner and Tice? Could be....

I think we can go another year without adressing TE in the draft. Shockey, Thomas and possibly Miller if resigned would be a great trio. I'm curious to see if something becomes of Lorenzen. He's got good size and was a QB in college so he should have the smarts just needs the blocking skills. New Orleans Saints - Tyler Lorenzen

Agree, but Shockey has got to show he can get tougher and play consistenly throughout a season or we're gonna have problems...

My online name is JeanPierre and I am a Shockey Fan...

Re: Position Breakdown: Tight End

I hear what you are saying JP. But I don't think it's a matter of Shockey getting tougher. He made plays when needed on a gimp leg this year. He could also have been held out of games he would have been in had it been a playoff game. IMO Payton has shown a gifted offensive mind. If there is an obvious value pick available to him as an offensive skill player, be it WR, RB, or TE he could take it and likely make fantastic use of that player. Need is D, but Payton will take any weapon that is sitting out there.

Re: Position Breakdown: Tight End

we have great TEs. David Thomas came out of nowhere and produced and caught almost everything then filled in at FB. Billy Miller will be back next year and is a great pass catcher. Shockey is good at everything he does. i dont think you can find a team with 3 good TEs
