Shawne Merriman?

According to beat writer Kevin Acee, restricted free agent Shawne Merriman could be had "for the right price" this offseason.

Per Acee, it's a price only GM A.J. Smith knows at this point. The Chargers have been reluctant to lock up Merriman ever since his torn LCL and PCL two summers ago. Smith drafted Merriman's replacement in Larry English last April, so he'll be open to draft-weekend offers from interested teams.



I know the guy is coming off surgery but he is young and I believe he can still make plays. If this turns out to be true, do any of you see us going after him? I would never part with a first and third for him, but a second or third I would.

Seems very good in run support, but not in coverage. Injury? Attitude problem? Too many issues, but Brees would have inside story.

My vote...move on, do not pass go and certainly do not collect $0.25.

Price Price Price. Always price. If he can help us do what we do, and we can afford him, bring him on. The fit can be assessed by Payton and Williams...they've proved they can make those kinds of judgements.

i want him badly. he is a playmaker and he also has a mean attitude which would fit in good on this D. they dont call the man lights out for nothing

Sign him,,and Alex Brown...draft McCoy and we have a DE.LB and backup QB...then we can spend the rest of the draft on best player available..lol

I like Alex Brown and Colt McCoy. I'm not sold on Lightouts
