Blackout lifted for Saints game

The Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Saints game this Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts will be televised locally because several business agreed to buy enough tickets to guarantee a sellout.

Under NFL rules, games cannot be televised within 75 miles of the host city unless the game is sold out 72 hours before kickoff. A sellout for football at the Louisiana Superdome is about 70,000.

While the commitment by Winn-Dixie, Coca-Cola, Beau Rivage Resort, ESPN and others guaranteed the sellout, tickets remain available based on returns from the allotment set aside for the visiting team and the NFL.

This Sunday will mark the 24th consecutive regular season or playoff sellout for the Saints.
