Character. Brown has it.

Leadership. Brown exemplifies it.

Great pick up by our guys.

I'll say it again: This regime has a 'system' that can allow them to win multiple Superbowls.

Interesting that he thinks that Will Smith is as good as Peppers!

Yes and not to mention what he thinks of our defensive backfield.

Brown is a good fit for the Saints
Mike Detillier/Sports Correspondent

On Wednesday, the New Orleans Saints came to terms on a two-year contract with former Chicago Bears defensive end Alex Brown.

The 30-year-old has played eight seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and earned a reputation for being a good pass rusher, a disruptive presence out on the field and a defensive playmaker.

To be totally honest at this point in their careers, Brown is a better overall football player than former Saints starting defensive end Charles Grant, who was released earlier in this year.

Brown has never been an elite pass rusher, but he has always been a good one. During his eight-year career with the Bears, Brown has totaled 43 1/2 quarterback sacks, and he trailed only Richard Dent, Dam Hampton and Steve McMichael for the most sacks in Chicago Bears history.

The biggest improvement Brown has made in his overall game is his ability to play against the run. Coming out of the University of Florida, the knock on the speedy end was that he could generate a pass rush off the edge, but he was a liability in run support.

That part of his game has improved dramatically over the years and just about every game I have watched him play, Brown has made several big plays while defending the against the run.

Brown echoed those sentiments this week about his ability to stop the run.
