Sharper won't last the whole season. Remember last year how Payton babied him at practice? I think he missed a few games due to injury. Jenkins could be the starter after midseason.

I really don't understand the seemed hatred, that some people have here for Sharper. The man played his butt off for this team, and helped us win a championship, but NAH, lets throw mud at him anyway.... Pardon my observation, but if anyone thinks that Sharper isn't a GREAT player, then I gotta say, you have no clue what you are talking about.

I will go one step further. Most of them are likely pudgy couch potato weekend warriors. Whining isn't becoming, is the moral to the story.

It's about cap friendly numbers...

He's come to town and been nothing short of a hero on defense; while he has limitations due to his age, and Malcolm Jenkins should be the next Free Safety, there is a place for him among the Saints...

Maybe if depth is right, and if the brass still is in denial about Usama Young; maybe we see the end of Harper as a Saint?

I for one am a Sharper FAN... a complete MARK for the guy, but i also understand the business of the NFL and he is a bit long in the tooth. he was a one year fix and did wonders but he had something to prove he was looking for that Last big payday. Our FO willnot fall for that they will pay him his value based on age, ability, durability, and team need. His job was to come here and tutor Jenkins and Harper. He did above and beyond that and kept Jenkins off the field for the most part. But he can not do that long term. I wish him the best for the rest of his career here or else where (As long as it isnt Atlanta)

I too am a Sharper fan, but he won’t get what he’s asking for. With the pick of a CB in the 1st round it only pushes Jenkins for his replacement but not this year. When we lost our corners our back end took a hit and Sharper limitations was exposed (what the Vikes staff stated) which made him look average at best. If Sharper wants to play his best chances are with the Saints so he’ll be back

I think your going to see an open competition among Young, Jenkins, Vaughn, and Harper. May the best two players win.

I don't get the hate at Sharper either but if he thinks he's going to get an over market value contract for the Saints, he's crazy. I hope he comes back but if he doesn't I hope Jenkins and Harper learned all they could from him and hope that Jenkins can fill his spot in the defense

im pretty sure we're all in agreement in our appreciation of sharper, or so it seems. who's not liking the guy? i still hold out hope that we can sign him! but, i feel like the deal would've been done already if it was gonna happen, unfortunately.

Ok, how about this scenario: Sharper comes back on a one year deal, and has another great season, similar to last years.... Then what? Does he "maybe" deserve a little more for the following season? Darrell Green played DB well into his early 40s, is it so far fetched to believe that Sharper could do the same?
