Last year around this time, Vikings coach Brad Childress crowed about snatching Percy Harvin one pick before the Patriots, who Childress believed was set to take him.

This year, Childress and Vikings G.M. Rick Spielman may have outsmarted themselves.

Both Judd Zuldad and Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune report that the Vikings traded down to No. 34 with the hope of selecting Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson.

It looked like a safe move, but Saints surprised the Vikings (and everyone else) by taking a cornerback at No. 32.

With Minnesota's apparent favorite target off the board, a trade down early in the second round seems even more likely.

I've heard this multiple times as well. Minny has to feel like they have egg on their face right now. It would be so fun to be a fly on the wall in Minny's war room as they try and talk themselves into Jimmy Clausen now.

I love it Minnesota is on the 30(draft number) they roll right fading (trade down) chilly throws a shot across his body expecting the target to be there(Robinson)at the 34 (new position) Peyton steps in ...or sends his man Breesus in at the 32(draft number)to nab the target and go the other way.

That was fun!!! Now im liking the pick even more...I see an opening night interception of farve by Robinson as destiny in the making!!!

The Vikings didn't vote for it because their owner didn't think the rule should be applied to the post season only. He wanted a uniform rule for the regular season and post season.

The Saints voted for it, because Benson is starting to slip mentally and one of the other owners probably distracted him with some tin foil while another owner checked the yes box on his ballot.

NFL Coaches Association meet's & has agreed to the "NEW" RULE change, that If a team moves up more than (2) spot's in the DRAFT to obtain a PLAYER, NO other team can or by rule can NOT DRAFT the same player as of the team whom traded picks/player's to move up!!! hahah, LOL

I can see it already... That right there would be something that would happen, due to the SAINTS snatching ROBINSON from the ViQueen's...
Hell, they changed the OT rules becuz of the Saints beating the Vikes, so i guess there gonna change the DRAFT rules, becuz the SAINTS beat the Vikes AGAIN, but only this time we beat them to a PLAYER in the DRAFT...
