Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle surprisingly didn't get selected in the first round Thursday.

Now we know why.

Several teams had Kindle off their board due to medical issues, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Chip Brown of Rivals.com writes that Kindle's knee was a "serious" medical risk that could require microfracture surgery.

Kindle also takes medication for narcolepsy and ADD, although we doubt those are major issues. Kindle is known for his football intelligence, but his durability risks was too great for teams to take in the first round.

At some point in the second round, we think the risk of his injuries will be worth the reward of his considerable talents.

So he is hyper active and can't stay awake.... Now I am confused!!!

And I sat there last night a little mad cause we didnt take the guy..with these issues hed blow past the oline and fall asleep as he approached the QB drawing a 15 yard flag for forcing to much wind past their knees setting some sorry team up for a game winning field goal!!! Gee wiz our FO is smart!!!

That knee sounds real bad. Microfracture surgery is usually reserved as a last resort.

It's so very hard to fix knees. These days it's not such monstrous surgery, but it is still iffy.

I still think we should have taken him. Look at the NBA, DeJuan Blair fell out of the first round because he has no ACLs and now he's proving every team that passed him wrong. Either way, only thing we can do is look forward and hope we get someone of talent today.

I think if he is there when we pick in the second he would be a steal. He was a beast in college and will be in the pros.

PS: why did we pass on Washington?
