Our secondary is going to be very very good. I'm glad we've got a speedster. Although I read earlier that he wasn't very fast. I'm excited about the secondary this year.

Devine is a burner and Pat caught him...I'm impressed. I just wonder why he had such a drop off in picks, did they change how they played their D or something?

you look at highlights from the senior bowl and you can kinda tell why

kid plays off coverage....not very good in press coverage

lots of balls went his way but the WRs dropped them or it was a bad pass

kid breaks on the ball very well but he looks very suspect against curl routes and gets beat deep on double moves regularly

in the NFL he'll have to work on that because QBs wont miss those throws

but you notice the athleticism....he tackles fairly well in open field

idk if they stopped throwing towards him but in all the highlights of him he is playing back about 10 yards off the WR

Re: Pat has insane speed!!

Now i heard last nite from Detillier and Deke that he is best in Press coverage...Canton ...so %^*& i dont know...and that he wasnt thrown at a lot...

LoL, naw, actually NO they did'nt quit throw'n 2 his side. If u watched the draft & watched highlights as they told u about the player & u can even go look up his highlights urself... They said he probably has the BEST all around NATURAL tallent of anyone in the draft, but is INCONSISTANT & LACKS PHYSICALITY, so they say...
Anyway, He runs a 4.55, but plays faster, more like a 4.40 guy. Very physical, but needs 2 be DISIPLINED & GW can do just that 2 him, thats why they got him. He has unbelievable talent & if coached right, can be one of the BEST in the GAME... As far as why he only had (1) INT after his soph. year, he actually was burnt quit a bit 4 taking big time gambles, but batted alotta balls away...
Regaurdless og all that, bottom line is he is VERY TALENTED & coach Payton & GW see a SHUT DOWN CB in him, so GW will whip his ass in place & have him READY... Good thing about this pick, is now GW can move Malcom Jenkins to SAFETY!!! ( We r look'n good at DEPTH )

in every highlight video......or any video of him for that matter you see him knocking balls away

he doesnt necessarily have the best hands.....but thats why he plays defense.....he has a 40 inch vertical so you know he can go up and get it.....but like dude said, he gets beat

even tho he plays the ball very well he needs to work on a few things

definitly can play the ball and reads the QB very well

Some food for thought and debate!

"Robinson attended South Miami High School before attending Gulliver Preparatory School. He played both defensive back and wide receiver. As a senior he had 11 interceptions on defense and ten touchdowns on offense. As a junior he had 32 receptions for 491 yards and six touchdowns on offense and eight interceptions on defense."

www.wikipedia

"Heading into his senior season, Robinson was considered a first-round lock. Former FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews said on numerous occasions that, physically, Robinson was just as strong as elite FSU cornerbacks Deion Sanders and Terrell Buckley, or any other former Seminoles.

But after being part of a defense that ranked just 77th against the pass, his stock slipped, and the first round didn't seem like such a certainty. The fact that Robinson failed to intercept a single pass also didn't help, although he had 11 pass breakups and 36 tackles.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said during Thursday night's broadcast that one of the reasons Robinson had zero interceptions might have been that teams didn't throw his way often, and that he had a good season but not an elite season.

``You expected him to be elite as a junior and a senior,'' Kiper said. ``He was good; he wasn't great.''

Kiper also said that while Robinson didn't have many chances to make plays on the ball during his senior year, he stepped up his tackling and forced two fumbles, making him attractive to teams.

``I was impressed with his tackling ability,'' Kiper said. ``I thought he was a good all-around player.''

Despite not having an interception, his senior leadership led FSU's coaches to name Robinson the team's 2009 defensive MVP."

Re: Pat has insane speed!!

Not that I subscribe to McShay, but....

April 15, 2010
Todd McShay calls Florida State's Patrick Robinson a "first-round talent'' but ...

Most experts project cornerback Patrick Robinson as a first-round NFL draft pick, the first player from Florida State to go that high since 2007 (Lawrence Timmons).

But …

“He is a first-round talent,’’ said Todd McShay, the director of college scouting for ESPN Scouts, Inc. “He has the tools. He does a great job with his ability to turn and run. He has quick feet. He understands what he has to do in certain situations, but the inconsistency will drive you nuts.’’

He said for all of Robinson’s head-turning athletic abilities, “he doesn’t seem like he brings the same attention to detail each and every play,’’ and that could cost him a spot in the first round of the draft.

"So he needs to get with a defense that has a good defensive backs coach, that has veteran leadership on that defense and can make sure he’s dotting his Is and crossing his Ts, for lack of a better phrase,’’ McShay said, “because he has a chance to be a really, really good starter in the NFL. But you’ve got to be buttoned up and you have to do everything right from a technique standpoint and a preparation standpoint and those are two big concerns that I think will be the reason he doesn’t go in the first round if he doesn’t.’’
