LT J Brown for LB?

So many of you are peeved that we didn't draft a starting LB. Does the coaching staff have something up their sleeve. Maybe there's a trade in the works to trade JB for a starting OLB.

Personally I think a starting All Pro LT is worth more than a LB. He would have to be pretty damn good for me to consider it.

So who out there that would make sense?

I don't know if there is a LB worth it, but it would not surprise me to some sort of package that included a LB or DT. Who knows how they would even it out, but I feel confident he will be traded. I thought that before the draft and it seems even more probable with the addition of C Brown.

I would do it for the right price...we got that kid from Texas Tech also...

If anything, we should've traded him for draft choices. Too late for that.

Trust is a new thing to us I know - BUT we need to trust that ML & SP know what they are doing.

If we do trade him it will be because of the good play of both veterans & rookies. I don't see it happening until training camp - UNLESS Brown does something to push their hand.

Payton made the correct observation that the team cannot trade an unsigned player. Brown has not signed his tender. Nothing can be done until he does so.

Anyway if a team really wanted to "trade" him for picks, they simply could have signed him to an offer sheet. Last I checked, no one has done so.

Jamal Brown may have been an all pro, but he's been hurt for two seasons and other than his all pro year, he's had a lot of holding calls against him. He's not as great of a tackle that everyone makes him out to be. Check out the film, he got beat a lot more than Bushrod did. That's why he had so many holding calls. I say, we won a Superbowl without him, so we can do it again. Get a trade or some picks in next year's draft, while he's worth trading.

Re: LT J Brown for LB?

A trade like that would have to be for Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing or any other young stud OLB. I would still demand som picks also.

Re: LT J Brown for LB?

Depends on who he's being traded for... He's by far he best tackle on the team and we're better off with him than Bushrod, Stief, or the rooke.

Aren't we just waiting for him to sign his tender so we can trade him for Haynesworth?

Personally, if the trade has value I would seriously consider a DT. However, I believe it would be hard to get an even trade.

The left side of the line has to be on lock-down. Brees should not have nightmares about getting pounded. Bushrod had the one really bad game against Dallas and that happens with certain matchups. Depending on what the new kids look like against real men, Brown might be (with the emphasis on might be) good trade bait.

Re: LT J Brown for LB?

I'm just curious of all you J. Brown fans out there. I have heard more than one rumor, that Jammal doesn't even WANT to play here. That he was pushing for a trade way earlier than the draft, because he was mad about his contract situation. Now, I don't have "sources" per say, but I do read alot online, and my question is this, what IF this is true? What if he doesn't want to be here? Should we still keep him anyway?

I don't have to tell some of you that I would be totally up for this trade. lol

Annnnd, once again, no answers to my question........ 20 people voted keep him, and not one of you has an opinion on whether or not he WANTS to be here?

Sorry SaintPaul, I really think he wants to be here but I also think the organization thinks they don't want to pay him because we can handle it without him.

what cher said

we are offering a 1 year deal with the tender

he likely wants something long term and closer to the money he would've found in free agency

brown wants to play for a super bowl caliber team.....however, skipping camp is an obvious sign that he is unhappy with the way things are going now

LT's are starting to remind me of bass players. It's hard to find one that's good at everything, and once you do, they want to call all of the shots!

Re: LT J Brown for LB?

I was listening to sirius today and they were saying that we would probably trade him but that we shouldn't expect to get too much for him. I tend to agree with them we should try and trade him as quickly as possible if we're going to do that.
