Great Comment on Sharper
This was from NOLA's "comment of the day"
"If Darren Sharper gets an offer that is significantly better than what the Saints are offering he should take it. It's his last year in the NFL. Unless he goes into broadcasting its likely the last good paycheck he will receive in his life. Based on production he was underpaid this year and he will likely be overpaid next year. The lifetime earnings of an NFL player are generally much smaller than they receive in the NBA or Major League Baseball. It is his last chance to put away some money for the rest of his life." -bywaterbob 100% agree with this. We all own fan goggles that make us see things from a stingy perspective. And I know some feel the Saints "rescued" his career but the reader makes a great point from a HUMAN perspective rather than a fan perspective. Which to me, trumps anything else. I hope Sharper comes back, but I think with a career like he has had and all he has given to the NFL, he has earned a year to be "overpaid." Esp when so many others out there who have come and gone have been grossly overpaid. OF COURSE if he goes else where and has a great year like last, that would kill the "overpaid" talk. :) Do your thing Sharper. |

Re: Great Comment on Sharper
Having another SB ring may not be as important as a possible big payday. He has reached the pinnacle professionally...now its all about long-term financial security in his twilight.
Legacy vs. financial security? Given the above....$$$$$$$ wins. Now, another SB ring and the $$$$$$$ = nirvana...which IMHO Sharper is hoping for! |

Pay him what you think he worth. Because we can't affored to pay him what he thinks he worth

Re: Great Comment on Sharper
In a uncapped year, they could give him a one year deal, that I think he deserves at the least. Let the man retire where he wants to be. Just don't put him in the poor house doing it.

Re: Great Comment on Sharper
I would give my comment, but instead I will just copy and paste my comment from 3/16/10 in QB's thread titled, "Memo to Darren Sharper..."
