Sharper may sign deal soon?
1 Attachment(s)
Just thought I would pass this along. I don't trust PFT all that much so take it for what its worth.
As we look toward another week of the offseason with a dwindling supply of unrestricted free agents (but never a dwindling supply of news and rumors), one of the biggest remaining names on the market could have a job very soon. Actually, he could have a job as soon as Monday. Safety Darren Sharper, we're told, is closing in on closing a deal. His destination isn't known, and it's unclear whether he has even made a tentative decision. But it's our understanding that he'll soon be making a selection from his pool of available suitors, whoever they may be. The Saints have an offer on the table for Sharper, who joined the team in 2009 and helped propel the franchise to its first-ever Super Bowl win. He also has visited the Jaguars. He has expressed interest in joining the Jets, but they can't sign him in the near future unless and until another one of the team's unrestricted free agents signs with a new franchise. Darren Sharper could be signing a contract soon | ProFootballTalk.com |
Re: Sharper may sign deal soon?
From what I heard, he walked away from Jacksonville's offer after almost laughing in their faces because their offer wasn't even close to what the Saints already offered him.
Based on that info, and now this info, it stands to reason that his only logical choice between the only two suitors he has up to this point, the Saints and the Jaguars, would be New Orleans. Am I right? I guess we should find out something more definitive on Monday... |

Re: Sharper may sign deal soon?
PFT actually doesn't have the crap they had a few years back, they are usually dead on these days. Yeah, from all indications it looks like Sharper will be back with the Saints. I just don't see him going anywhere else at this point. Jets cannot sign him just yet, Jaguars gave him a low offer, Cowboys said they are not interested (could be a smoke screen), really has to be the Saints at this point.

Re: Sharper may sign deal soon?
Hey, with our luck lately, I will say it will be the Saints. Why not?

WHO DAT!

Re: Sharper may sign deal soon?
PFT is still football rumor central though, don't kid yourselves about that one in the slightest. That Florio ****** is the biggest, most blatant Vizqueens lover and Saints hater on the face of this planet and he's love nothing more than to stir up crappy untruth's about this and every other subject that might matter in the slightest to Saints fans, especially when the news media is so hungry for anything to report on...

Re: Sharper may sign deal soon?
Just imagine how deep our secondary is going to be if Sharper does re-sign after the addition of Robinson and with Vaughn coming back from injury. That would be scary for opposing QB's.

I want a copyright on what I'm about to write...
I just had a flash in my head...here's the scenario... You're sitting at home watching the Saints pregame show, when they send it to the commercial. The commercial begins with a close-up of DS...he's at his safety position and he is staring down the QB as he calls his cadences. Sweat is dripping from his nose, and you can hear his thoughts..."Yeah, throw that skinny-post one more time!" The QB goes back to throw, the receiver breaks across the middle...with DLmen in his face, the QB gets off the throw just in time. It looks like it is right on target when suddenly DS jumps the route and appears between the QB and the receiver. He snatches the ball out of the air and proceeds to take it to the house for another Saints score. As he turns towards the camera in the endzone, he reaches down into his sock and pulls out a "Sharpie" and signs the ball...then he runs to the sideline and gives it to one of the handicapped kids watching from the sideline. Then he turns to the camera and says, "I never leave home without my Sharpie!" I don't know...either a good idea or papaw really came through with some good stuff this time. |
