Chris Bell Wide Reciever
I guess we picked up this kid as a UFA, after the draft. Has some character issues supposedly, but is a big, physical receiver. Could be another Colston type pick, as he was said to have played like a "man amongst boys", at Norfolk State.
Chris Bell #19 Wide Receiver Height: 6-foot-3 Weight: 210 pounds Class Year: Sr Experience: 2V Hometown: Norfolk, VA High School: Granby HS Scouting Reports A big, physically put-together wideout who looked like a man among boys at the I-AA level, Bell possesses a decent first step off the line but is a powerful route runner who picks up speed as he goes and has a physical element to his game. He lacks elite speed, but tracks the ball well downfield and showcases the coordination to adjust and haul in the tough catch. He isn't afraid to be physical off the line and displays the ability to drop his shoulder and rip his way through press coverage on his outside release. He's a gifted jump-ball threat. Bell is physical after the catch, showcases good body control and power with the ball in his hands and is tough for the initial man to bring down underneath. He does a nice job changing speeds in order to set up defenders. But he isn't a polished route runner, is consistently asked to run the nine route or crossing routes underneath and still has a long way to go in that respect. He has a tendency to glide in and out of his breaks and isn't sharp when asked to change directions. He was able to make an instant impact at Norfolk State this past year but does have some character concerns (he was kicked off the Penn State team). But he's a gifted athlete with all the physical tools and a lot of room to grow. If he's willing to put in the time, his best is still ahead of him. Statistics No Yds Avg TD 2009 51 958 18.8 13 |

in the past he would be a longhot, but this year he is a NO-shot

Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
I'd love to see a talented guy like this on the practice squad, but what I'm most looking forward to is seeing Adrian Arrington finally on the roster. He's too good to lose.

what I don't like is that we don't know if he can do anything on ST either. Roby has made himself into a top return man and a gunner on coverage- he's smart enough to see what his niche is-- don't see college receivers coming up knowing that. |

On to Chris Bell The film shows a tall explosive receiver strong, will break tackles. I see a very poor mans Andre Johnson ( i say very poor mans version because hes a rook and College and the NFL r different) looks like he will fit right in make plays kid and you will play consistently, Make 1 great catch in preseason then u better ask the equipment guy for extra knee pads. |

Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
Rod Harper is better:)..We will see this year..:bng:

Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
Sounds lie a pretty good player. Only you have to be a whole heck of a lot better than pretty good to make the Saints as a WR.

I said on (FILM) not hyping him up, the video tape is where i ascertain my opinion. i did proceed to compare AA and Bell but thats just what i see on film |
Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
Arrington has all the tools to be a big physical receiver, that's why people hype him, but you are right in that he has yet to produce. If he pans out, great, if not, so what he was just an UDFA. Same with Chris Bell.
Just because the Saints found Colston in the seventh and Pierre as an UDFA, doesn't mean we are going to find a gem every year. BUT, why piss on someone's cheerios just because they are optimistic about a guy? I'm sorry but we really need to spread the love in Who Dat Nation and stop with these ulcer inducing rants. For the first time ever, we can be optimist, or would you like to go back to the Billy-Joes days, just because you are used to it? |
Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
I Remain unbiased regardless where its a saints player or not i call'em as i see em, and as I see AA is still a project WR. The Team does a good job drafting and evaluating talent but the 06 draft spoiled us, rarely do u get stud players like we have found in the end of the draft to UDFA. I'm a Saints fan, hows that for Optimism. I apologize if i'm rubbin ppl the wrong way, homerism is fine but unproductive as it is fantasy to base ideas and opinions based on the fact that a certain player plays for your favorite team, its fine to root for them but be realistic with your posts, ( like saying JerMon Bushrod is better then Jamaal Brown because we won the super bowl without Brown Playing all season)

Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
Anyone that can help us, I'm all for it. If AA keeps it together and shows his stuff, GREAT. If this kid manages to impresses the coaches and makes the other guys sweat their job, also GREAT. I hope the kid learned something from his stupidity. The THUG label is a bit much. I'm more interested in where this guy is going, not, so much, where he's been.

Re: Chris Bell Wide Reciever
UDFA is not a big issue. he screws up he gets kicked to the curb. no big deal
