New Orleans Saints reportedly will sign veteran fullback Jason McKie
 

The New Orleans Saints have signed former Chicago Bears fullback Jason McKie, according to a report by ESPNChicago.com.

McKie, who turned 30 on Saturday, spent seven seasons with the Bears, primarily as a blocking specialist after working his way up from the practice squad. He has 84 rushing yards and 364 receiving yards in his career with six touchdowns.

Checked Alex Brown Twitter and apparently he was very excited about this as it is his former teammate..
He's going to pick up his homeboy, i guess we got a lil clique in the Saints locker room now.

Man oh man, I hope Evans is going to be healthy for the season. He really is a key contributor to the Saints. Maybe his recovery time will be longer than expected and we are bringing him in as insurance to learn the system. Either way I don't see Payton carrying 2 fullbacks on the roster. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see them bring in an UDFA who we could stash on the practice squad to bring up if necessary.

Just an insurance policy in case Evans can't go or has a setback. As of now Evans looks good to go for training camp, but I don't think the team likes the idea of having David Thomas as backup at FB. We lost a good portion of our playbook without a FB last year.

This guy is a blocking beast. Sounds like Thomas will be pounding the rock alot more this year.

I think it is a good pickup.....does concern me a bit about what the deal could be with Evans though.
