ESPN's coverage of OT Rule Change

Am I the only one who has noticed, that for the past two weeks, everytime the OT rule change has been mentioned, on either Sportscenter, or NFL Live, they ALWAYS show the footage of Hartley's kick to win the NFCCG?

I am not one to believe in conspiracys for the most part, but this is straight up finger pointing. I'm sorry, was that game, the ONLY one decided by a field goal last year? In fact, let's look at the history of plays like this in the postseason itself. Was this the ONLY conference championship ever decided by a field goal in OT? Didn't Mylanta do the same thing to the Vikings in 98? I don't remember any attempts after that, in the off season to change the rules.

If they want to change the rules, FINE, but do they have to single us out, everytime it's talked about? Vikings lost that game, BECAUSE OF TURNOVERS! Not because of an unfair rule in overtime. ESPN is just as bad as the whiny Viking fans in my opinion.

I agree with your analysis. They just can't stand it that the Saints are winners. On the bright side I do enjoy watching Hartley split the uprights.

I approve of this message and your breasts.

I guess we can all it the Hartley Rule. Spread that term around, so eventually it becomes commonspeak, and embarrases the NFL.

It is the work of the devil. He does not like his place being frozen-over and is trying to do everything in his power to make sure it doesn't ever happen again! It won't work, though.

I kinda like seeing us with the winning field goal over and over and over....

Kinda brings home and reminds the world that: WE ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!

WHO DAT!

TWO DAT!

I try to stay away from ESPN as much as possible. But it shows low character of them (no suprise there) if they do indeed show Hartley's kick every time they cover the change. But rather than be a conspiracy against the Saints, I chalk it up to more of their revolting love afair with Favre.

And I agree with Sky Mike in approving Selma's breasts.

Hartley's Rule... I like that. Rep from me.

I also am in complete breast approval, and everything else approval.

It's still hard to beat SpeedyRon's avatar though.

Remember, its the Hartley Rule. Spread it around. Those of you who are bi-boardal, carry it elsewhere.
All phrases and terms have to start somewhere.

Actually, that's a bad example. Minnesota won the toss in overtime that year, and had, not one, but two possessions in OT. Atlanta kicked the game winning FG on their second possession in OT, ending the game. The result would have been the same, even if the new OT rules were in place at that time.

If the team that wins the toss fails to score on their opening drive, and the opposing teams scores on the subsequent drive, either by a field goal or by a touchdown, that team wins the game.

I like the college rule for the college game. But, they should have left the NFL rule alone. If they want to change a stupid rule, how about allowing everyone on the 53 man roster to play every week?

Re: ESPN's coverage of OT Rule Change

the NFL and ESPN wanted Favre vs Payton... bottom line.

if the Viqueens kicker had won the game, IMHO, this would not be an issue.

Why did they want Favre?????

SO HE WOULD FINALLY RETIRE!

The "HARTLEY RULE" is now in full effect!
