I see where you are going with this, and I would tend to agree with you. Looking at this comparison a bit closer, I can see why playing another sport would be against the rules, but flying in a jet wouldn't be. In a pick-up basketball game, people tend to get physical and increases the risk of injury. A player could blow out a knee, break an ankle, etc., etc. Being a passenger in a jet with an experienced pilot where the chances of things going wrong are extremely slim would seem to be more acceptable. Granted, if something does go wrong in a jet, it's very likely that a timetable for return from injury would be needed...it would be a timetable on when the funeral will take place.
