METAIRIE — The New Orleans Saints have completed their first three Organized Team Activities as they make the transition from celebrating their Super Bowl championship to preparing to defend it.

The Mardi Gras parades, appearances on Oprah and Letterman, and hometown homages have given way to the annual offseason workouts that include 12 practices.

“Just about every player on our team had their high school jersey retired and a street named after them in their hometown,” quarterback Drew Brees said this week. “Certainly there comes a time when it’s time to get back to work and thinking about how to accomplish the things we’re still setting out to accomplish and get that level of success we had last year.

“As much as we want to sit here and say we’re going to build on what we did last year and basically take where we left off and continue to go up from there, the fact of the matter is every year is a new year and every team is a new team regardless of how many guys you have coming back.”

The post OTA interview shows that Payton has this thing well in hand. They are trying to identify and overcome all of the causes of recent teams falling off the wagon after experiencing success. Even after all of this training and preparation, the players still have to get it done on the field...every week...for about 22 weeks. Now that's a hell of a challenge.

YES, all of yall r correct & YES its true, we must bring the focas & intensity 2 the field... In that being said, i will say this... " If there is a team or a group of players who can overcome fall'n face first after winning a c-ship, its the SAINTS"
( I can say this about this team, we have a group of very mature & non-child like men.)
THAT ALONE CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE... We will see!!!

Payton and Brees are both masters at motivation. If anyone can hold the team to last years standards these two can do it. They have always been highly motivated and always motivate those around them. Who Dat II
