NFL Videos: Top Ten Snakebit Franchises: New Orleans Saints

Not sure if this was already posted. We're ranked sixth all time, presumably, ahead of the Lions at number 7....go figure.

The video shows Reggie getting clocked at the end. The NFL Network needs to rework this video and ranking as last year changed everything, obviously.

yer they need to show us winning the super bowl and on footballs highest stage. They need to show all the new orleanians that deserved the win so much. The only highlight they showed of us from recent times was reggie getting hit.

I saw this vid and really didn't care for it. We've been a good team since 2006. Not to mention we had some good years before the SP era.

Since 2006 - 2 NFC South titles, 2 NFC Championship appearances, and a SB win. The poison has been sucked out. TWO-DAT!

Agreed. Even including '06 losing to those damn Bears, the Saints suffered through years of futility, but thanks to last season's Super Bowl victory, they finally found the antidote for that poison.

Wow. Some of you may have slight reading comprehension issues. I wasn't denying the bad years or the snake-bit PAST. But as I said we are no longer snake bit. The term refers to not being able to catch a break/bad luck....so as I see it that ended in 2006, remove us from that list. Not winning the SB doesn't mean you had a bad season. IMO if you make the play-offs you had a good season. Also, Our 07 and 08 seasons were disappointing but it wasn't due to being "snake-bit"

You do know we won our division before the SP era? Are you sure you were around for all 39 of those years you pointed out?? Or were you fair-weathered and missed a few?:bng:

LOL @ this. I admit due to age I was not there for all but way before 2006. I still question if you were there for all those years before like you say since we won the NFC West twice and saw a few play-off berths, Yet you say all 39 years before were bad.

REGARDLESS we are not snake-bitten anymore. Which was my point.

i know i was. nine years old in tulane stadium with my old man. we i mean i clutched my dads leg the whole game. it was awesome,scary and the opening kickoff jinx. lol was a memory to last. we lost to the rams and had the worst record 3-11 i think. still love um today and forever

I still remember all those Monday Night Football half time highlights. Howard Cosell would rave about how the Saints played lights out for the first 3 quarters, and would bomb it in the end. Yeah, as a true Saints fan speaking here, it was very painful to watch... Saints snakebitten, yes for sure. Thank goodness a Super Bowl win finally came our way!

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with this mentallity at all. The Saints were a solid contender, from 1987, all the way through 1994. How many play off appearances were in there? Yes. No wins, but we had some solid seasons in there. I am proud to have the superbowl win, and proud of where the team is now, BUT, I am just as proud of the teams we had back then. That is a good part of our history. Why some people seem to forget that is beyond me.

No one forgets the late 80's.

IMO, "Most SnakeBitten Teams"; means just that. We have been snake bit here in the past couple of years.

Just to give a couple of recent ones....

1. Lose Colston for the year due to injury

2. The infamous reverse fumble to Bush that lost us the game

3. I don't remember the year... I do remember it was in the late 80's maybe '90, Saints vs Rams...Saints are scoring TD's like "Mad Crazy" blowing out the Rams....then slowly but surely... Rams win.

We have not forgotten the "so called, Good years". These, these years are the Saints' truly "Good Years".

No one mentioned that we also made NFL's Top Ten list of Team Turnarounds. Not all of those lists are against us! :D

There's a difference between being snakebit and just plain bad and we were the later for about 30 years.

This is going to sound controversial, but I do have a theory. I believe that over the years that we have been unlucky not only in the way the ball bounced, but in the way the game was officiated. If you have it in your mind that someone is an idiot, you are going to be paying special attention to point it out. Pre Sean Payton, it seemed like we were the whipping-post of the league not only by other players but especially by the officials. jmo, though.

Agreed. Jerry Rice DID fumble the ball before he ever got close to the goal line, but the refs couldn't call anything against San Francisco back then... Just the first example of many that could leap to mind.
