Re: Jamaal Brown wants to be released...

i guess we'll find out if he stay's or goe's only if we get a nice trade or draft pick. somebody will go down and if its a playoff contender not in our division see-ya. i don't think payton is that type of coach to hang on to somebody that don't want o play for him and is damanding a trade or release. thats the sad part is going outside of the (family) team and yakking about it. i'm sure coach isn't to happy.

I heard that the Bills might have a really nice washing machine that they'd trade for Brown and a pack of juicy fruit!

Trade for Haynesworth? Not sure I'd want the salary cap headache however.

Re: Jamaal Brown wants to be released...

Brown for Haynesworth would BY FAR be the best deal possible. Other than that, the Saints might, if someone is desperate, get a 3rd round pick for him.

CantonLegend 06-16-2010 03:17 PM

Re: Jamaal Brown wants to be released...

why do people not think he is worth more than a 3rd rounder

brown was injured but his career is not defined by injuries.....this is the only injury of which he has missed significant amount of time despite having a history of injuries, he has come back from all of them and performed at an elite level

he is not a right tackle, he is a left tackle......of course RT is easier....because the competition they face is weaker

brown doesnt have a history of penalties even tho people consider him to be penalty prone.....he had only 7 holding penalties in '08-'09 with only 3 sacks given up......ive said this so many times that its getting very old

10 bad plays out of 635 pass attempts is a fantastic ratio.....thats about half a bad play per game.....i know several starters on our team that had way more than that per game including fan favorites

i hate that he doesnt practice with the team.

fans of the team should support whats best for the team.....keeping brown is in the best interest of the team

1,000,000% agreed. Haynesworth is bad news.

As for Brown, if he truly wants out of New Orleans, I say ship his butt out and don't let the door hit him where the good Lord split him. We are Super Bowl champs, we don't need all that negative energy.

Truth. Also Brown is not attending Ring Ceremony per WWL

Re: Jamaal Brown wants to be released...

JB probably needs to be traded at this point. If he really doesn't want to be with the Saints, then grant him his wish. The Saints still have Bushrod, Strief, and rookie Charles Brown. It's not like the Saints would be hurting at this point. Still, a two time pro bowl LT does require some compensation. Maybe he could be traded for a LB or something, who knows. For some reason draft picks are considered gold, so a 3rd or 4th pick may be all the Saints could get for him. Personally I would try and trade for a decent player, but we all know trades are difficult in the NFL.

View this as you wish. I am a Team Player kind of guy and fan. He has not shown up to OTA's, and voiced he does not want to stay. Let him go.... The no show for OTA's is what got to me.

We can all what if till the freaking cows come home. The reallity is he's gone now. Good riddance, adios, have fun in DC. The reason why the saints wouldn't sign him to a long term deal, is BECAUSE of the health concerns. It's better to play it safe, and not lock him up in a huge contract, than to bet the farm on him, and he misses another season.

how forgetful we are after a super bowl victory?

brown was one of the best players on our team over that past several seasons

we won the super bowl without him so now hes a cancer and a locker room hazard? now hes expendable and now hes useless? he wanted a long term contract to stay in new orleans and the fans showed him support like this?

no wonder he wanted out

So, as for me, I don't think he's a cancer, a locker room hazard or even useless...

...BUT...

The man hasn't played for us in a year, we managed quite nicely without him, we have his heir apparent (hopefully) on the roster, an extremely intelligent QB to compensate for 'average' play at the position, and frankly with the labor situation as it is, Brown might have signed his 3.5 friggin tender and been happy.

So, he's traded, still not signed long-term, only NOW he doesn't have to fight for his position which he might likely have had to do in New Orleans. He didn't like the situation here (for his own personal reasons), so that's on him. Loomis had to get what he could when he could. Brown doesn't seem to be a bad guy - and I guess I'm not certain what he was offered - but this appears to be the best for both him and the team.

Yeah Canton. He's SOOO GOOD, that even when we were dangling him in front of all the other teams in the NFL, NO ONE wanted him. If he is as great as you keep saying he is, and there is absolutely no doubt about his health, then why, pray tell, did everyone pass on the prospect? All we got was a third, or possibly a fourth... What does that say about what the rest of the league thinks of him? Obviously, the Saints aren't the only team, that doesn't want to gamble a first or second pick on him, or a long term contract. I read on the Redskins forum, that even their fans, don't want to sign him to a long term deal, until he shows he still has it, in this one year deal. You are really up on this guy, and that's fine, but obviously, I'm not the only one out there, that thinks he's going to have to prove himself, all over again. In fact, all 32 teams think so.

considerin the fact that there were teams garnering interest.....including a new thread on this same forum entitled....."cowboys wanted brown"

of course there are concerns about his health.....he missed an entire year of playin time....but there arent concerns about his talent

and consider also that since there is no salary cap that an All-Pro left tackle will cost a lot of money and not many teams have that kind of money to spend

im really up on this guy because he protected our most valuable asset over the past few seasons and everyone is just throwin him under the bus for wanting more money.....WHICH HE DESERVED

after watching bushrod get drew pummeled last season im surprised that nobody is upset about losing our best offensive lineman. ive pretty much chalked it up to ignorance but who am i to judge?

winning a championship makes people a little cocky and we are forgetting the past 43 years......you dont start tearing down a team after a championship....you continue to build on the foundation that you've established.......this is not what we have done this offseason
