Stopping Stephen Davis

Ok, this will be tough, as Davis is a tough, punishing, between-the-tackles kind of runner. He also happens to be the focus of the Panthers ball control offense that lets their defense take a breather and play at a high level.

Now I think that we should be able to do OK with Glover in the middle to make early contact and then Spikes should be able to get in and wrap him up for minimal gains or even losses by disrupting exchanges in the backfield. If we can keep them in 2nd and long and 3rd and long all afternoon, then Trufant will be able to blanket Muhammed and make it super hard to get the passing game going. Gee, if we didn't have Glover's speed, Spikes intensity and strength and Trufant's cover skills, I'd have no idea what we'd do this Sunday.

(slapping forehead) Hey, we don't have those guys!

Anyone else have any thoughts on what we can do against Davis?
