My depressed game take....
Brooks had a poor game. Plain and simple. I, more than ever see the need to spark this offense with something, but unless McCarthy pulls his head out, it may not help. He plain stinks with his play calling.
I will be really supportive of how our defense played today. They were no excuse. McAllister made some fantastic plays given the poor blocking of the line. He doesn't need excuses. Does Wayne Gandy know how to block without holding? These guys are a huge surprise this year. I never would have believed this would be a weakness on this team. They gave up no sacks, but they didn't look good. It was a pleasant surprise to see Orlando Ruff and Victor Green involved without being singled out as the guy screwing up a play. Ruff didn't tackle well, but he was around the ball. Green played pretty good though. Deuce has to get the game ball no matter what. Now....to try to drown in this bottle. I\'m glad I\'m not the only one who noticed the terrible play by the offensive line. I\'m not opposed to Bouman playing, but he might get killed back there. Wayne Gandy is just plain out terrible. |

gatorman gave 4 reasons why the Saints wouldn\'t make the play-offs back in June.

McCarthy didn\'t invent the offense all over again, but I have a hard time pinning this loss on him (unlike the Seattle and Tennessee games). This was all about execution, starting with Brooks. Don\'t be fooled though, he will stay on as starter unless something graver happens. |

See, I didn\'t think the O-line played all that poorly. No sacks. Yeah, Brooks was under a good amount of pressure, but you have to expect that when you\'re playing one of the best front fours in the NFL. I though the line played on of their best games.
Brooks, on the other hand, did not. He continues to throw, behind receivers, too high, too long, basically anywhere but right on target. I also think the play calling wasn\'t bad. It was certainly better than in previous weeks. We threw a lot more on first down. Yeah, Deuce off tackle on 2-10 is dumb, but otherwise I also thought the play calling was better. I have tried to be as honest as possible this season, and in doing so, I have admitted repeatedly when Brooks played well. In this game, everything got better (Deuce\'s running, the play calling, the D, the protection) except for two things - receivers making catches and Brooks\' play. There is a problem. When you see Horn on the sideline *****ing. When you see Stallworth still getting slammed as he has to go up in double coverage to get balls, and you see Conwell asking why Brooks had to throw a dart nine feet in the air on a 7 yard pass... well, I put that on the QB. Give me Bouman - seriously, how can it hurt at this point? Would you guys feel better if we waited until we lost to the Bears and the season was undoubtedly a wash before we went to him? Fine. I can so that. I just want to see another QB in this system some time this season... just to give me some measuring stick to see if Brooks truly is the stud that a lot of people in New Orleans make him out to be. |

PS - I do agree about Ruff and Green though. I said the same thing in my thread at the half. That\'s nice to hear.
