I love it .... this defense is going to be insane this season

GW is really getting the message out there. Farse needs to retire and not get hurt again playing against a defense that is willing to pay fines just to take a shot at him.

I don't want the Viqueens to have another excuse for why we beat them. Favre, come back, if only for one game, because that is all it will be for when Smith and Brown get down with you!

Gregg Williams to the NFL: Fear us.
"The strategy worked and now Saints defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams, is laying down the gauntlet again, telling USA Today "we have to send messages to every offense about how physical it's going to be when they play us ... Those messages are out there, starting with No. 4."

Re: Gregg Williams latest comments about Brat Farse...
Personally, it makes me a little nervous. To advertise you are going to target a particular player, especially a quarterback, only inflames the attitude of the opponent. We already have a bull's-eye on us for winning the SB, and the rough handling of Faaaavra in the NFCCG. This is already going to be a rougher season for the Saints than last year. But to tell a team that we are going to target a particular player and try to take him out of the game, just sets us up for a possibility for their defense to do all the damage they can to Brees. Personally, I want to see Brees play a few more years. I don't want to see him carried off the field on a stretcher. And by making remarks like that publically only sets us up for that situation. I know, I know, it's football, its rough, people get hurt, they are going to target Brees anyway. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind going after Favre, I don't mind making him regret his decision of not retiring (if that is what his decision ultimately is), it's part of the game. If you get a good clean hit on him (like the Warner hit), take it, but don't advertise that your game plan is number one, to take out the quarterback.
JMHO, for what it's worth. |
