Chase Daniel's performance looking up
1 Attachment(s)
Quarterback Chase Daniel, looking to win the backup job behind New Orleans Saints signal caller Drew Brees, had an outstanding afternoon Friday. First, he scrambled to his right on a play and, finding nothing but open field in front of him, sprinted down the right sideline. Cornerback Reggie Jones finally caught up to him inside the 5-yard line, but Daniel cut back and scampered into the end zone.
Then, when he was put in charge of the 2-minute offense, he found himself playing 10 on 11 with the clock running toward 0:00 after wide receiver Rod Harper hurt his hip. Undaunted, Daniel drifted to his left on the last play and then spotted wide receiver Courtney Roby in the far right corner of the end zone. Daniel rifled the ball from about the 20-yard line all the way across the field where Roby caught it for a touchdown. "Really what I've been telling myself is, 'try and be consistent.' And the past couple of days I haven't done as well as I wanted to. But I felt good about this first week of training camp for the most part and on that long run I was gassed going down the sideline." Re: Chase Daniel's performance looking up
The Saints won't be able to sneak Chase Daniel onto the practice squad this season... some team would snap him up.
Either Daniel makes the no. 2 QB, or Ramsey makes no. 2, and 3 QBs are kept on the roster. |
