Spike Lee's comment about New Orleans Saints a load of garbage
 

In promoting his upcoming film “If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise,” Spike Lee flooded the Times-Picayune with some positive pap that rings totally false.

Talking about the Saints’ historic Super Bowl win, he offered this quote in Tuesday’s Living section:

“We knew the Saints were going to win. There’s very few times in sports when this happens, but the Saints weren’t trying to win a game. They had a cause. And no matter what Peyton Manning was going to do, it was not going to help. The Saints were going to win that game. We knew it. The Saints knew it. Coach (Sean) Payton knew it.”

That’s supposed to be a testament to the Saints. In reality, it diminishes what they accomplished

This is coming from the jackass who showed up at one of our games wearing a Jets jersey. Someone needs to shove ol' Spikey off the bandwagon while it's traveling at high speeds. Gawd, he is annoying.

He is trying to give acompliement there, but yeah, not really.
Fan support this past year,and all of the years, and the city and region needing some news,something big and wonderful for a change is impt.
Rita Benson and her grandfather,TB,still the real owner of the Saints, the coaches, plays, and the team did what they did on the field. Point blank.
From the coaches and head coach SP,to the players and leader,DB, this team made it happen as a team playing each game as they came and each quarter and with no team member acting a selfish fool,showboating, but working as a team.

Um actually Spike Lee has done a hell of a lot to raise awareness for our city. Just because someone isn't a fan of our team does not make them a horrible human being. If anything I take it as a compliment that a fan of another team has the ability to come outside of himself and say something nice about our team. Those of you who are hating on this dude need to take a long hard look at themselves and admit the real reason for your distain.

Spike has done some good, but he's a self-appointed something or other. He's a blowhard. He's one of these people that thinks his celebrity made him insightful and wise. Quite the contrary. His celebrity, as it does with most famous people, has given him a platform from which he continues to put his ignorance on display.

I don't hate the guy, I just see him as one of many who thinks what he says matters more because he makes movies. Cue Clooney, Fonda, that stupid Dixie Chicks ho, Linda Ronstadt, and all the other "we know what's best for you because we're famous" fools.

I yawn. I change the channel. I think for myself.

I liked Sipke Lee's comments. People who are hating on him might dislike his comments, or they might just dislike him. I don't know enough about people on this forum to judge that. But in my view, at least, Mr. Lee's comments seemed like a compliment to the determined and driven nature of Saints players, and I agree with him.

As for me personally I'm just tired of hearing what he has to say about every damn thing. Between Spike, Jesse and Al, you'd think the rest of us couldn't go to the can without their take on the situation. LOL

Spud Lee needs to go back to New York where him and his ilk are happy in their fantasy world of elitism. Us folks down here work for a living all the way from the guy who delivers beer to shrimpers and fishermen. We live in the real world down here.

We could probably add Rush Limbaugh to that list.

Why can't we have new Bandwagoner's like other teams? every team has bandwagon fans, why are we restricted? whats wrong with Saints having outside support or people trading their old jersey for a new one?

Spike lee has done a lot for the community he practically lived in New Orleans from 2005-til and has done the city justice with his footage and stories that were told, lets give him a break, we let Ying Yang Twins (WHO ARE RIVAL ATLANTA FALCON FANS!) become Honorary Saints fans but we can't let Spike Lee who actually did something for the city be one? C'mon ya'll.

Maybe, only Rush is famous for politics, and I'd venture a guess that regardless of which way he leans he probably has a better grasp of that business than Spike.
