Looking around the NFL standings, I see a lot of teams that are just as disappointing as our Saints. Teams with only two wins include:
NYG PHIL SF PIT OAK I didn't include STL on the list because I assume they will have 3 wins after tonight vs ATL. And that's not including these teams with 1 or 0 wins so far: NYJ SD ATL So at least we aren't the only fans wondering what happened. Of course the Jets and Falcons fans have clear reasons for their teams' struggles (star QB out) but many of those teams' fans are searching for answers just like we are. Here's hoping the lackluster victory over the Bears can jump-start this team. |

We are 1 game out of the wildcard spot. We have the 7th most wins among NFC teams.
All is not lost if we get up off our tails and start playing like we\'re capable of. At this early stage it looks like 2 WC teams may be 9-7 or even 8-8. We have played the NFL\'s toughest schedule so far and we can get some momentum with an Atlanta win. Its quite possible we can get back in the thick of things before the break. |

Nice to see someone other than me and BillyC try to be somewhat positive through all this. Whodat is trying, but I know him too well and I ain\'t buyin\' it! :P
Tell ya what, when this team turns it around (and I believe they will) where ya rekon all these \"we\'re doomed\" and \"we suck\" and \"fire the whole team\" people are gonna be? I\"ll tell ya where. Right here on the bandwagon with the few of us that still have some faith. I\'m not saying we\'re Superbowl bound by any stretch, but things can turn around in a hurry in the NFL. Where are the Raiders? Waht happened to the Bills? We\'re a quarter of the way through it, and while I\'ll admit we look more like a highschool team than a pro team, we\'ve had to endure a lot to include an insane number of injuries to key players as well as the toughest schedule in the NFL up to now. You\'re right tweeky, and it\'s an optomistic viewpoint for sure, but all is not lost. |

I have already stated that if this team catches fire and wins 4 or 4 in a row, I\'ll be right here ready to eat my crow and ask for seconds. I hope you\'re right, I just don\'t think it\'s going to happen.

I hope I\'m right too, but you\'ll have to get in line for that crow behind \"08\".

I\'ve spent way too much time complaining and whining about my Saints, I don\'t want to do it here too.
While \"we-suck-and-always-will\" may or may not be true, I\'m sick and tired of hearing it after 37 years. My new motto concerning my Saints... STAY POSITIVE, OR STAY QUIET |

Jesus - after the last two weeks I was the ONLY person writing positive posts on this board and I still get crap from Saintfan. Can you say vendetta?
The Saints have had lots of injuries, played very good teams, and needed time to \"gel\". My hopes for this team are very realistic. Still, with a struggling Atlanta team on our schedule, followed by a Carolina team just looking for a letdown game (and honestly who is not really as good as they are playing right now), we\'ve got a chance. I think TB may embarrass us this year, but I think we have a chance to pick up another two wins in a row. Go Saints. |

From the list at the top of the post, San Diego and Pittsburgh are the two biggest disappointments in my eyes.
SD seemed to have all the pieces in place before the year started. I\'m not sure why they haven\'t been able to produce. The defense is young. Maybe Brees isn\'t the answer? I haven\'t been able to watch any of their games, so I don\'t know. I did notice that Boston finally had a huge game coming off of his suspension. Pittsburgh has taken a bigger step backward than NO has. I watched the game against Denver yesterday and saw an offensive that is only a shadow of last year\'s. Maddox\'s throws are off target, and his receivers are dropping balls. Also, I wouldn\'t trade their DB\'s for ours. LB\'s ? Most definitely. The Oline for the Steelers is worse than ours. They\'ve had some injuries, so they have an excuse there. I don\'t think Philly\'s as big a surprise as everyone thinks. They have lost impact defensive players for the last couple of years without any real replacements. The management obviously has a fear of wide receivers cause they refuse to sign one. I think teams have finally caught up with what the offense can and cannot do. The defense has a couple of key injuries and BOOM... And, hey, NO isn\'t a disappointment \'til the end of the season in my eyes. I predicted 12-4 at the beginning of the season, so barring another loss, the team\'s still on track. How\'s that for optimism? I need another drink. |

Whodat, you\'re the first guy I\'d buy a beer for man. Nothing personal, but you\'re the eternal pessimist ya know...I simply MUST be skeptical. I\'m a bit gunshy...but keep up the optomistic approach and I\'ll come around eventually!
:P |

It\'s been 2 weeks in a row of optimism from WhoDat. I need to see more consistancy though. Maybe we can come up with some stats for WhoDat\'s positive to negitive ratio......... :P
|

Positive to negative RATIO!?!?!?! Ratios don\'t matter! It\'s pure optimism, that\'s it!!! HA HA HA. LMAO.
Billy, Saintfan - glad we can all get along. Saintfan, I might take you up on that beer one day. Or I\'ll tell you what - if the Saints make it to the playoffs this year, I\'l be buying YOU the beer. Deal? This team isn\'t good. That\'s the reality of the situation. But they CAN right the ship. |

PS - Gator, I didn\'t say we weren\'t crap. Just to be clear. They are crap. But you know how when a dog first takes a crap it\'s all mushy and kind of blobby... but then as time goes on it stinks less and hardens up into a nicely formed terd? Well, here\'s to hoping we turn into a hard piece of sh!t!!!

WhoDat, now that throws a whole new light on the subject. Never thought i\'d see it explained like that? :o

Haslett agrees with my analogy too:
\"You can see that they are more solidified,\" Haslett said. |

Man, that\'s two! I think Billy had me in his sig at one time too.
You are welcome my friend. I do try to bring a little bit of humor to this board from time to time. |

I know I should edit this but it\'s just to damn funny! Sorry Halo. :D
|

P.S. can someone please clarify the spelling of turd. Terd or Turd?
|

potatoe, potato... doesn\'t matter.
You can\'t edit that one Joe! C\'mon. That may be my best post all time! |

Frankly, I think it\'s turd, but i\'ll defer to B&B on this one. :red:
|
misery loves company
Turd, with a \"u\", yes. And please don\'t edit :P I give this thread...two thumbs way the hell up.
|

Now we know what everyone was talking about before the season when they said the D would need time to \"jell.\"
The only thing I\'m worried about now is that after a few weeks, the jelling is over and the turd starts to get kind of crumbly. Hopefully that won\'t happen to this defense until after the season. :D |
misery loves company
Great point. We want one of those petrified type turds. Rock hard. If we get brittle then we\'ll just crumble.
