What happened to humility?
 

Last year the New Orleans Saints had a good bit of swagger coming out of training camp. But we were also humble. What happened to humility? Even on this board some people seem to think that we are unbeatable. I've heard more smack talk since we won the Superbowl and no one seems to think that we can lose. If I remember correctly we won several close games and had the ball bouncing our way all year long. We were a well coached team with something to prove. Now it seems like the team takes winning for granted and some of our players are talking smack too.
We need to remember the old adage--pride goeth before a fall. :bang:
I'm just sayin'.......

Seeing how we have never been able to talk smack about anything I say let the smack roll as long as you can back it up on the field.

After 40+ years of misery, we're simply not that good at it yet. lol

I'm not sure this is true. We played poorly. It was preseason.

We can be as cocky as we like, what I think the OP is talking about is the football team.

It's tough to repeat success in this league. There's no guarantee we'll win the division or make the playoffs. The close victories and amount of turnovers the Saints got last year may elude us. All we can take with us is the pride and resolve of a defending champ. Playoffs or bust, just like every year!

just beat Dallas...Biqueers...falqueens...panties....the yucks....40 whiners and ...hell thats 9 games right there...lol

Yeah it is...but we are humble bunch here ...just not used to being the champs...i used to hide in shame...but not now..i shout who dat on the mic at my gigs all the time...lol...Really gets the cowgirl fans revved up...

oh no i wasn't talking about this forum, i've just registered so i have no idea what goes on here.. but i've seen some other forums, and youtube comments and so on

As a fan base we have always been confident, even with Dtika at coach. It's funny how if you are losers, a winning mentality is called confidence, but when you are winners it is called cocky. Not saying that is what this post is saying, but all the other teams fans are calling us cocky and prideful now that we are winners, but 5 years ago we were loveable, confident losers. I much rather being called cocky. Now, here are my views............I am scared this team has fallen on hard times after winning the super bowl. They are looking rusty and sluggish. If they don't pick up the pace it could be a really short season. I really hope they get it together, no one is overlooking us this year.

I'm probabally the most humble person on this board.

I remember when my coworkers used to put a bag on my lunchbox...and rag me to no end..i stood strong and believed...it was hard for a lot of yrs..people would say why dont you just pull for a winner and i would always say we are winners..we have fun win or lose..Now im gloating i admit... when you wait 30 plus yrs it feels good to be on top...Now if this team falls flat on their face and it could happen...they can never take 2009 away from any of us that have endured all the yrs of suffering...now if the team can just get that fire in their belly like its fanbase we will be ok...

Sadly, I can't talk much smack because I'm simply outnumbered at my workplace. Mostly Steelers fans and almost everyone there talks about how "They felt sorry for New Orleans and they needed money so they gave them the Super Bowl." It pisses me off but I can't do anything about it because there's just too many of them. So I silently wave my metaphorical Who Dat flag and just press on the way we have the past 40 years. Well, 20 years for me.

The Steelers won't be sniffing the Superbowl anytime soon. So you let those fans live in the past all they want. Same thing I tell Cowgirls fans...
