Minnesota Vikings' claim about New Orleans Saints, Brett Favre is cheap shot

The Saints, once widely disparaged as "a finesse team, " are now the Purple People Beaters?

Somewhere Gregg Williams is smiling.
The Saints don't meet the Vikings for another three weeks, and his defense is already between their helmet horns.
In case you missed it amid Favre-apalooza, Vikings Coach Brad Childress and two of his players -- running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen -- accused the Saints of crossing the line with their hits on quarterback Brett Favre during the NFC championship game in January.

So terrified of the Saints World Champions, they're going to try to win on the strength of bulletin board material. When your quarterback trades in his jock strap for Depends, you have to do things like that.

Love this quote here ...

"The Vikings had better get used to it. The Saints aren't the only ones who are going to come after Favre and his brittle body this season. The NFL is a merciless league. There are no senior-citizen discounts when you step under center."

That quote is good because its as close to truth as it gets, people have seen the blueprint from the NFCCG, all teams will get after him

I think the whole argument is a bunch of whiney baby BS. When I played football they told us to "hit the BLEEP out of players" and "KNOCK THE SNOT OUT OF HIS HEAD"

Players dive for knees, head, chest, upper body, lower body... you name it.

This is football, this isn't corporate BS and political correctness on the field goes nowhere.

Exactly Halo, I play free safety for my football team (in the UK), the first thing my coach says is fly to the ball carrier, go a 100 mph and lay him out!!! Our D has been strong because we play the game hard and don't listen to the crybabies!!! Let's go am ready for the start of the season

YouTube - Brett Favre Injures Defender with Crackback Block

"Brett Favre or no Brett Favre, that's not cool."

I completely agree. Where's the b****ing about this?

acekilla89 08-19-2010 10:29 PM

very rarely do i read full articles...it just made me realize more of what i knew.

My question is why the f*ck do they live in the past? did they b*tch and complain this much when the failclowns beat them at home in 98?

QBREES9 08-19-2010 11:05 PM

Brett, doesn't think Childress knows anything about offense. There cry babys.

Rugby Saint II 08-21-2010 12:41 PM

The refs threw a couple of flags in the game against us. I believe that the officials were told to let it play out on the field. GW had been talking all week long about going after Favre and the officials knew it was coming and they let it go. So now I just wish the Viqueens would let it go.

Message to Vikings: You lost, get over it and move on

breesfan27 08-22-2010 02:15 AM

B*tching and whining for long periods of time is nothing new for Viqueens fans.

The '98 season, they were all crying around about how the Failcons stole their Super Bowl and how much they hated Atlanta. I know some Minnesota fans that STILL complain about that. It was 12 F&%$#@ years ago! GET OVER IT!

spkb25 08-22-2010 09:03 AM

In my opinion- they're simply trying to get extra calls in the opening game. They're cry babies, and I'd bet they don't sniff the NFC championship game again. No way Favre has that type of year again. Some of his throws last year, that led to wins, were toss ups that they got lucky on.

I hope we send him off the field in the first game!!

Choupique 08-23-2010 05:34 AM

If ViQueen fans think D's were going after Favre last year... just wait.

Srgt. Hulka 08-23-2010 07:00 AM

If the Vikings Defense plays as well against us as they played last night against the 49ers, Brett Favre hasn't got a chance in hell. I don't know who watced it last night, Favre got creamed one time and they pull him out, and the 49ers ended the game, the very last play of the game, was a safety on Minnisoooota.

Brett Favre completes one pass, gets sacked in short preseason debut

SAN FRANCISCO -- Being back on the field again meant plenty to Brett Favre, no matter if it was only for a few minutes.

No matter that he completed one pass and also got clobbered on a sack that lost Minnesota 10 yards.

Favre's highly anticipated first game back with the Vikings lasted all of four unspectacular plays and one series in a 15-10 loss to the 49ers in a nationally televised preseason game Sunday at Candlestick Park, the only NFL show of the night.

Brett Favre's Arrival in Time for Minnesota Vikings' Collapse

By Daniel Beer (Contributor) on August 24, 2010

Somewhere in the cold, blistery North, a Viking ship began to sink. The distress signal blared and a trio of warriors departed in search of a savior. In bewildering haste they returned, following in the hoof steps of a white horse burdened with safely delivering a valiant gray-haired knight.

As the knight saw the ship in the horizon, he dug in his spurs and rode hard to save the day. The white horse came to a sudden halt as the knight departed his stead, just in time to watch the mast of the ship slip below the water's surface.

That's how the story likely looked in Brad Childress' diary, until I added the M. Night Shyamalan-esque surprise ending. Last year was a fairy tale year for the Minnesota Vikings, and coach Brad Childress could hope for nothing less in 2010. Unfortunately for Childress and the team, not all fairy tales have fairy tale endings.

Big Trouble in Little Eden Prairie

Less than a week after Brett Favre's celebrated arrival in Eden Prairie, MN, news broke that his star wide receiver, Sidney Rice, underwent hip surgery just one day after the Vikings' second preseason game. According to the story from Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune, Rice "had undergone hip surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. on Monday" and could likely miss the first half of the season.

I know you guys are tired of hearing about the Brett Faaaaavre, but I just couln't resist posting this.

CBS analysts: SB appearance unlikely for Favre

Clifton Brown - Sporting News

NEW YORK -- Most CBS football analysts believe that the Vikings’ best shot at winning a Super Bowl with Brett Favre was last season. This season? It’ll clearly be more difficult.

“You’re talking about a guy who’s 40 years old, who in my opinion is coming off the best season of his career,” CBS analyst and former NFL quarterback Steve Beuerlein said Tuesday during an event in which CBS analysts were available for media questions.

“The efficiency he played with, the percentage he threw for, the ratio of touchdowns to interceptions was unbelievable. I hesitate to question him because I’ve been burned by him before, but I just cannot see him playing even close to the level he did last year.”

So on and so forth...blah blah blah...
Ok, here's the best part.

Defensive coordinators will take more risks to punish Favre.

The physical beating the Saints put on Favre during the NFC championship game has become a must-see DVD for defensive coordinators. Even if it means surrendering some big plays, defenses will take more chances against the Vikings, hoping to put more hits on Favre.

“Gregg Williams and the Saints set the blueprint in the second half of the season,” former 49ers guard Randy Cross said. “They abused (Tom) Brady.

They abused Favre. It’s a copycat league. People will try to duplicate the beatings Favre received at the end of last year, and if they do, he’ll feel it.²

Rich Gannon, who won the MVP award as the Raiders’ quarterback, agreed that Favre will face more blitzes this season.

“A can of worms was opened up in that New Orleans game,” Gannon said.

“People looked at what Gregg Williams did defensively and said, `You know what? We’re going to take our chances. We’re going to send some extra people. We’re going to get some hits on this guy.’ ‘‘

If Favre takes a pounding week in, week out, his play could fade late in the season, as it did with the Jets in 2008.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he hit a wall halfway through the season, but with this guy you never know,” Beuerlein said. “That’s why it’s so interesting. He’s unique.”

I hope the Saints defense reads this and laughs... then gets angry and finishes that ankle. Brett Favre is a little ***** and he's going to deserve what he's got coming.
