What went right and wrong in the Saints'
Saturday night in the Superdome was a sight to be remembered. Sure it was only a preseason game and won't go down in the record books as much of anything, but it was still a very special evening. For the first time, the New Orleans Saints stepped onto their home field of the Superdome as the defending Super Bowl champions.
The "Who Dat Nation" was out in full force as over 70,000 showed up for this preseason game against the Houston Texans which saw the Saints play much more like the champions from last year. Game one of the preseason saw a very sloppy performance that ended in a loss. That loss included bad special teams, poor offensive play, and horrible tackling. Week two of the preseason saw the Saints pull out a 38-20 victory over the Texans in a game that was owned by potential back-up quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel had the performance of his young career and showed that he is going to take the back-up competition with Patrick Ramsey to the limit. The Saints really did improve and this victory included much better offensive play, overly improved tackling, and special teams that...well, that were still poor.
