Saints working to correct special teams miscues

wwltv.com Posted on August 24, 2010 at 6:02 PM Updated today at 6:02 PM METAIRIE, La. ― Twice in Saturday night’s 38-20 preseason win over the Texans, New Orleans’ special teams took positive momentum and turned it negative, giving up two returns of 55 yard or longer. The kickoff returns came on top of poor performances in kick return against the Patriots in the preseason opener. Lest you think the players don’t care, however, listen to special teams captain Troy Evans. “After that first game, I slept like crap,” Evans said. “It was a bad night of sleep. We came in here and it showed on film and it starts with me.” It has been a problem that has persisted for much of the past 12 months. I'm surprised that McMahon is still here. I know that Payton is loyal to his coaches but he might need to take a close look at replacing the special teams coach.
