Jonathan Vilma injures right groin
 

NEW ORLEANS -- Saints starting linebacker Jonathan Vilma injured his right groin in the third quarter of New Orleans' preseason game against the San Diego Chargers on Friday night.

Vilma was hurt while trying to pressure Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers on the Saints' first defensive series of the second half. He remained briefly on his hands and knees before jogging to the sideline.

After trainers examined him, Vilma jogged to the locker room.

Vilma makes the Saints' on-field defensive calls and rarely misses a play during the regular season.

The Saints have one more preseason game next Thursday before hosting the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL regular season opener on Sept. 9.

In the post game press conference, Vilma said he is fine and will be ok. I'm guessing he sits the last game completely and will be fine. Now I think Shockey just got knocked a little silly and Strief just got twisted up, but we'll know for sure tomorrow.

Thanks for the update Danny, refs missed some calls tonight. i.e. leading with helmet on shockey, holding vilma, pass interference colston......Hey it is preseason for them too.

Yea Vilma was blantly held on that play that he got hurt on.How do you miss that call?

He wasnt held..he was frikin CLOSELINED...cheap ass play...i was pissed
