Minnesota Vikings Coach Brad Childress wonders if the New Orleans Saints are too aggressive or even dirty
Minnesota Coach Brad Childress has known Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams for a while now.
Hannah Foslien/The Associated Press Minnesota Vikings Coach Brad Childress and the Vikings come to New Orleans on Thursday. He is familiar with the aggressive, unapologetic play of Williams' defenses. But Childress, whose team meets the New Orleans Saints in the season opener Thursday night in the Superdome, sometimes wonders if the Williams and his players go too far. http://media.nola.com/saints_impact/...e23c_large.jpg "His defenses have always been aggressive," Childress said Sunday morning. "We were able to face them for a number of years when we were with the Eagles when he was with Washington. It's always been a storm the castle type of approach. "(He's) kind of known for that, even when he was back at Tennessee back with Jeff (Fisher). I understand a quarterback's going to get hit, people are going to get hit. It's football. I don't have any illusions about that. What I hate to see are late hits or attempts to hurt anybody. I don't think there's a place for that in the game." In last year's NFC championship game the Saints were fined a total of $30,000 for four different hits on Vikings players, including three that were delivered to quarterback Brett Favre. The Saints also were flagged three times for personal foul penalties. Childress said he definitely wonders if the Saints were intentionally trying to injure his players in that game. "Yes, I would have to say that, yes," he said. Minnesota Vikings Coach Brad Childress wonders if the New Orleans Saints are too aggressive or even dirty | NOLA.com |

Some good ones ... |
Like i said in another thread..maybe one of our LBs steps out on accident and takes chilli out...lol
|
The only reason they are saying we are dirty is because - We hadn't had a good D for a number of years, average QB's had big days against us. Then GW comes in, gets the guys flying round, hitting everything that moves, people can't handle the fact that our D was good last year.
If it was the Ravens/steelers doing something like this, they wouldn't bat an eyelid, get used to it chilly!! |
Now the Vikings are starting to whine and cry and offer excuses BEFORE the game? They fear us.
|
Tell that ugly SOB to shut the hell up. He can't even coach his own team because he's got panties on.
|
Man, this is just too much. I mean, right after they lost they're looking for excuses. I'm sure losing the NFC Championship hurt them pretty bad, so I can almost give 'em a pass for whiney behavior for a day or two - I'm sure they needed something to help them sleep at night, but we're about to kick off another season, what, six months later? And they are STILL going to the press with this crap?
To all the other teams on the Queens schedule. Slobber-knock them, and especially their QB. Minnesota should remember this isn't shuffle board. It's the NF Freakin L for crying out loud. Man up or go the hell home. |

Keep crying, Chilli. You're going to need a lifetime supply of Kleenex when we get done with you. |

Favre, Payton react to Childress comments
In a conference call earlier Sunday with the New Orleans media, Minnesota coach Brad Childress said he believed the Saints’ defense crossed the line in last season’s NFC Championship Game and attempted to intentionally hurt quarterback Brett Favre. In a separate conference call with the New Orleans media a bit later, Favre was asked about Childress’ claim that the Saints crossed the line between aggression and trying to hurt people “So did a lot of people,’’ Favre said. “But do you know what my response is? It’s football. [Saints coach] Sean Payton and I are good friends. I talked to him several days after the game and said, 'great win for you guys.' A win’s a win. In a roundabout sort of way, every defense wants to get the opposing quarterback out and that’s just the way it is. Had that been us and say we played Drew [Brees] here and we were able to hit him like that and we sure would have been saying, 'great.' I wish we had won the football game. I’m not so concerned about how we lost it. It’s physical. It’s football. I’m not going to get caught up in that.” Speaking of conference calls and this whole issue, Payton was asked how he would respond to the comments from Childress when he was on the phone with the media in Minnesota. “I really don’t respond to it,’’ Payton said. “Guys are going hard, going physical. It’s a tough game. I was just asked the question, 'do you think there will be more of an emphasis on pass rush in this game from both teams?' And I would say it would be the same emphasis. When a guy like Brees or a guy like Brett Favre has a lot of time to throw, they’re hard to defend. But I think we play with an attitude and a swagger and a confidence level within the rules, and I like the way we play." Payton was then asked if his defense played within the rules in the NFC Championship Game. “I thought they played with great energy and effort,’’ Payton said. “I thought there was one foul that was called. Certainly you could make a case one way or the other, but ultimately the next weekend, or two weekends later [we] played in Miami for the Super Bowl.’’ Favre, Payton react to Childress comments - NFC South Blog - ESPN |

TOO AGGRESSIVE? is that even a thing? is that like too rich, or too happy?
we're in this guy's very large, bald head. Maybe he'll leave butter fingers AP in max protect to help block for that baby brent- one less thing for our LB's to worry about |
They must be embroidery or sewing fans, not football fans.

Two weeks ago, Baby Brett described Childress as clueless. And yesterday, Childress confirmed that observation. Vikings lack leadership from their coaching staff. Their decline began in last year's NFCCG and will continue on Thursday when the Saints rip Minnesota a new one. Green Bay will dispose of the corpse during the remainder of the season.
|
Well said TopCow...
|
Just wait until after Thursdays game and Chili will really be crying and wondering which backup QB to put in the rest of the season.
