New Orleans Saints' roster updates and changes; injury report
As we get closer to the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night, the New Orleans Saints are sure to do a number of tweaks and changes to their roster. A number of them were made today.
~ The Saints released quarterback Sean Canfield and tight end Dustin Mitchell from the practice squad and signed guard/tackle Roger Allen and running back Brandon Minor to take their spots. ~ Tight end Tory Humphrey was released from the 53-man roster and former Saints' linebacker Danny Clark was signed to take his roster spot. Coach Sean Payton said Clark is the kind of player the Saints need. "He's a physical player. He's a first and second down type player that has good size and carries his pads pretty well. He can play in the nine technique." Injury notes: ~ Tight end Jimmy Graham and safety Pierson Prioleau were at full speed in practice. ~ Wide receiver Marques Colston, offensive tackle Zach Strief, cornerback Tracy Porter, and linebacker Jonathan Vilma were all limited in practice today. Colston is said to be nursing a bruised kidney and the team will be keeping an eye on it. Word is that it is not serious. Payton also said concerning Porter that he is "optimistic he'll be ready to go (on Thursday). But today he was limited." ~ Linebacker Stanley Arnoux and running back Chris Ivory were out of practice today. read more | |
