Vikings offense aims to match Saints defense blow for blow
Forget giving Brett Favre an extra second to throw.
Adrian Peterson might make sure Saints defenders need more than a second to get up. "We're definitely going to be the ones delivering the blows," the Vikings running back said about Thursday's game in the Louisiana Superdome. For all of Peterson's video-game moves out of the backfield, it's the blocking from him, the offensive line and the tight ends that will help determine whether the Vikings truly avenge last season's NFC championship game loss to the Saints. The Vikings have seen the game film that shows Favre taking 16 shots in the last Saints game, creating a dominant theme among the linemen to keep the 40-year-old quarterback upright. The Saints' late hitting prompted two 15-yard penalties and $25,000 worth of NFL-assessed fines. The mangling didn't stop the Vikings' offense from putting up almost 500 yards on the blitz-happy Saints, but five turnovers doomed Minnesota Vikings offense aims to match Saints defense blow for blow - TwinCities.com |
