Reader comment: 'If the schools didn't let out early, many parents would just keep their kids home the whole day'
In response to Cindy Chang's report on NOLA.com, "Some New Orleans schools closing early on Thursday because of Saints festivities," reader MidCitizen had this to say:
"Here's the thing: As a former public school teacher, I have seen how the beloved Saints, "snow", the cold, and windstorms affects school attendance. While it definitely doesn't sound good, you have to realize that if the schools didn't let out early, many parents would just keep their kids home the whole day. By letting out early, at least all of the kids will come for a majority of the day."
