I Can't Be Alone ...
First things first --- I've been a FAN since age 4 ... That's 29 years, so save your "bandwagon fan" comments.
Okay, am I the ONLY one who doesn't see us as having real problems? The offense is sluggish, Brees looks pretty average, the D has issues, etc, etc, etc. We look NOTHING like last year ... NOTHING. I know we all LOVE the Saints, but is it time to be real about what is going on with this team? I fear that all the interviews, book writing, parades, etc in the offseason have taken a bigger toll than any of us (including the players) expected ... We've made Favre, Smith, Ryan (who is pretty good) AND Clausen look A LOT better than any of them actually are. (Keeping in mind that Favre is 40+) I'm just confused ... We are 3-1 and there is NO NEED to panic, but honestly ... Don't ugly wins eventually lead to ugly losses? I'm just irritated. |
I feel the same but I am happy we are 3-1
|
3-1. Should be 4-0. Cleanup the turnovers. Get Thomas, Bush, and Sharper back. Hope somehow Ingram will contribute at OLB. No team in the NFL has looked lights out. I've certainly seen worse in my 40 years as a fan. LOL.
|
It's that dang Madden cover I tell ya.
|
You're not alone. Something is wrong. Maybe it's the dreaded Super Bowl hangover. I don't know. I, too, am happy to be 3-1 with the way we've played. We are a chip shot field goal away from being 4-0. But at the same time we are a play or two away from being 1-3 or 0-4. It's not time to panic but I'm starting to feel juuuuuust a tiny bit uneasy.
|
You're absolutely right, but I believe our issues are able to be corrected, and that is what gives me hope
|
That was a Poorly played game. Yeah were 3-1 all right.
|
There's alot of us that feel the same way but we could be 4-0 and if we hadn't gone for that damn field goal against the Falcons, but you're right it could be alot worse and we've been lucky
|
the offense seems sluggish and something is missing thats for sure. i hate to say it but i'm starting to wonder if there isn't something wrong with drew's arm. we have not been taking shots downfield and his passes don't look as crisp as they have been in previous years.
that being said, we're 3-1, so there's no need to panic. it's not important to be playing your best football in sept and october. there is a lot of room for improvement to be found, starting with dropped passes. i don't believe that our problems aren't fixable. its a long season and we'll get better. |

Yeah I mentioned this last week and nearly was stoned to death for panicking. Something is definitely wrong. Not just with Drew. The receivers routes don't look crisp, O line seems a bit slow. Drew is not right. He has yet to wow me like he did nearly every single game last year. Defense looks real vanilla and maybe it's because Sharper is not out there and GW feels he is not comfortable putting any pressure. We did some things today that reminded me of 2007 with end arounds at strange times-almost like we are trying to trick our way into getting a first down. I also think that SP is such a mad scientist that if there is a game that he feels we can win without much game planning, then he won't show his hand. Ithink he definitely did that last year leading up to the Pats game and then that was it until Arizona. Just seems that way.

I couldn't agree more but of course you get the one's that question your Saints fandom when your vocal about your concerns instead of parading about just being happy we pulled it off..
I hope we get this all addressed before we reach the harder stretch of our season, i think regaining Sharper, Bush and getting Brees super healthy is a start, but our D has looked like puff pillows as of late, they've managed to every now and then look impressive but very inconsistent, it's like they "Turn it off" sometime and let themselves get run over and then "Turn it back on" only when it's a really really desperate situation. I could probably relax a little more if we put ourselves up about 4 scores before everybody turn it off. |
In the theme of coulda woulda shoulda, it all evens out.
We shoulda won last week and probably shoulda lost today. We're 3-1 and a Giants victory away from the best record in the NFC... |
Yeah we do have some problems. I do believe we will get them worked out. Next week. Oct. 10 the Arizona Cardinals
|
Am I the only one who is encouraged by Ivory- not his production so far, but the fact that he does things like gets super pissed on that 9 yard-run? I mean, most rookies, playing in their second game, and with the troubles that he's had so far, would be acting like the second coming if they ripped off that run- but he wasn't happy because he came up short, so he bullied his way to the line on the next down. I think that really shows something.
|
Of course you're not alone. I hope it doesn't get so bad that we have to tell the "oh, well be alright in a few games" crowd I told you so, but we're 1/4 into the season and we look like crap on both sides of the ball.
|
I'm right there with ya! I'm glad we are 3-1, could easily be 4-0 or 0-4....
|
Well, I think this is one topic we can all agree on. Even if SOMEONE tries to take away our fandom, and trade us to other teams for expressing ourselves. They almost seem bored out there at times to me. It's like there isn't that same spark anymore, no fire. I don't know.....

Here's my problem with that theory though. We play the AFC North this year. Pitt, and Baltimore, both have BEASTLY defenses. Cincy, and Cleveland, are no slouches on that side of the ball either. We make these same mistakes when we play them? We could easily lose all four games.

I'm with you C17. I remember a time when we would lose games like that on a regular basis. I know we can play better than this. I don't know what is happening offensively. If there is some miscommunication between Brees and our receivers, who knows. We can sit here and analyze what's wrong with the team until we are blue in the face. I am happy that we are 3-1, but the next 12 games are going to be an uphill battle if the team doesn't improve.

I just wonder that because we finally won the Superbowl last season after spending so many years trying to win it, does the team have the same desire to go an do it again.
I'm sure they have the desire to try and win it again, but is it with the same intensity, the same passion, the same need, the same hunger?. Winning the Superbowl for the first time in club history was the thing everyone wanted, well now we have done it. It maybe hard on some occasions for the coachES to try and fire the team up and get them to play with the same desire and drive as last year now that they already own the ultimate prize. Just a thought! GEAUX SAINTS! |
Week1=UGLY, Week2=UGLIER, Week3=UGLIEST, Week4=OOOGLY.
There are real problems that have to be fixed if we are going to be positioned for post-season success. There are things that are beyond our control and many things that we can actually do something about. O-line looked a little better this week. D-line and linebackers still have issues. Our corners and safeties can't continue to be our leading tacklers each week: injuries are going to continue to plague us if it continues. Mental mistakes are eating us alive. I am not impressed at all rolling the dice for wins each week. |

One thing I am happy about...we're 3-1 and we haven't even had a breakout game yet. :bng: |
There are obvious issues I have noticed like Bree's being a bit off... Drops we have had... which isn't new for this team.
I think what we are seeing is the same team over the last few years. Nothing new though. I don't think people realize dispite our record last year we were in some crazy games that finished crazy. We are the very same team as we have been. I am surprised you guys don't realize this. |
Im not worried. We are 3-1, taking everyone's best shot, and without our biggest playmakers on offense(Bush), and defense(Sharper).
|
I'll take the wins any way we can get them. They sure have not been pretty this year to date but they all count come the end of the season and seeding the playoffs.
We definitely are struggling to execute on both sides of the ball and some serious mental lapses are putting us in bad positions. We have been our own worst enemy this season. Drive killing drops and turnovers. Blown coverages, missed tackles. It'll sort itself out and we will start dominating teams we should dominate. And there is and will be the mentality that each team facing us will want it to be a statement game. I do not see anything wrong with the play calling or the game planning we are doing. It's just the little things and tightnening up our game will make a world of difference. |
I think we will get back on track soon. The team has too much potential not to. And hey, we're a 29 yard field goal away from being undefeated.

Your not alone. But we are 3-1.

I'm thrilled beyond belief that we're 3-1, because we sure shouldn't be. We may be a missed FG from 4-0, but we're also dangerously close to 1-3 or even 0-4. That blade cuts both ways. In spite of my howling in the chat box during the game, I believe, as Parcells has said, you are what your record says you are. Still, we are not playing well and I'm pretty hacked off about it. |
I dont think we're missing anything. I think we're playing NFL Teams, and they're made up of big fast men who are trying to beat us.
3 out of 4 times we've found a way, we've done something right, and done a few great things and made great effort against these opponents best shots.... and found a way to win. Just wait till we're at full strength. |
