Ladell Betts or Chris Ivory should start against the Cardinals?
Who do you think between these two should start on Sunday?
Welcome!
Until Ivory learns to hang onto the ball, Betts should get the majority of the playing time |
I chose Betts, but I think they will split carries pretty evenly at first and Payton will stick with whoever is hot until he is not anymore.
Ladell Betts. I think Chris Ivory should get some playtime, but I think that Betts should be primary. Ivory is a rookie and is prone to rookie mistakes a lot more commonly than veteran Betts is.
Betts. He's more dependable. They will split the carries depending on what Payton's trying to accomplish. If Ivory lays it down, we may not see him again until Betts' tongue is hanging out of his mouth. I hope they both have a great day for +100 between the two, +150 all purpose yards.
Doesn't really matter though. It will be a rotation with Betts, Ivory and Wynn.
When is Thomas coming back
Looks like it's betts.
Betts runs gracefully and powerful like Duece...our two scat back system isn't going to work long enough to gain traction...Last year we had a three scat back...I say scat back because Bell and Thomas are small in height and power running style. Thomas hasn't been running well...Bush, frankly, shouldn't be in the backfield anymore...just my opinion...Bush should be our welcker
I'll go with Ivory. Betts has always excelled in his role as a change of pace/3rd down back. With that said, if our gameplan is to go out there and throw the ball all over the field to start the game, I'd switch it to Betts.
Voted Ivory, and agree with papz.
I like Betts to start and Ivory to hit the defense when they're weak.
Betts will get the most playing time because of his versatility as a pass blocker and receiver, not to mention ball security. When Ivory is in, the D will know it's a running play. He needs to become more well-rounded before he will be more than a bit player. Also he needs to demonstrate ball security to earn Payton's trust.
I almost didn't post until I saw Papz voted Ivory too. Whew! Thought I was being stupid again.
I agree Betts should start. It looks like Ivory is the number one on the depth chart though. I wouldn't mind seeing a 50/50 split, give Ivory some time on the field now when there is a chance

I deffo think 50/50 will be good, lets pound the rock, let zona try to play cover 4 until we getting runs of 10 yards plus every play, then brees will burn em. |
I would lean towards Ladell Betts, Washington made a mistake keeping Portis and dealing Betts. Although I will say that Ivory runs hard and makes things happen. I look forward to Ivory eventually being one of our key RB's. With our current injury situation it's nice to have both of them.
I find it interesting that Betts got 75% of the vote so far. I'd have thought about 60-40.
I think if you'd ask which RB would be a more valuable starter at the end of the season I think those numbers reverse. Now that I've thought about it for a while, starting Ivory may be such a huge boost to his confidence that it may be worthwhile. I'm changing my vote to Ivory. Its not like both won't see a lot of carries anyway. |
I agree with Saintsfan1976 pound them with Betts early then run over them with Ivory late.
Ivory has had some explosive runs which I like, but he has ball control issues. I still think he will get the majority of carries. Keep Betts in for his blocking and to run occasionally.
I say... deuce ! ! ! ! ! ! !
ivory should start but does'nt deserve to. well i'm sure he heard it enough i'm not saying it nomo.coach might surprise all, but then he's limping
You go with the 9 year vet since he can pick up the blitz which doesn't get your QB killed. I think Ivroy will play but he also has been known to fumble.
This is a no brainer. Betts... |

Give it to Betts he looked good the last game. And give Heath Evans some carries too.
Foreverfan makes a good point with blocking, seems like they have been hitting Drew pretty good this season.
I've got a question, I actually came here to ask you guys but I see you already have a betts vs ivory topic. I figured you may know best. In one of my fantasy football leagues I don't trust lesean mccoy to play much this week and I have a few RBs on byes. My options are I can pick up and start either betts or Ivory.
Is there a clear cut goaline back between the 2? Which in your guys opinion will have the better fantasy day? thanks for the help whoever replys! |
There's only saint paul.... :) I'm going with Ivory. I think it will be a split, but I like Ivory. Hard runs, and loves contact.....
