Brittany Brees having an impact

I think all fathers know its not something you can remove from your head. A child being born is going to severely impact your thoughts, more than any job.

24/39 and 3 ints. Brees is human, and an expecting father. As much as women don't understand , this is very important to us, and trumps all we are doing. Brees cares deeply for his wife and to him , Im positive, his most important thought is the birth of his child. It would be to most men here.

That said , he was never in this game.

nutria 10-10-2010 08:24 PM

My wife said the exact same thing. I said they should induce labor and think of the team first. She accused me of being insensitive. I agreed.

pherein 10-10-2010 08:54 PM

Well Im willing to give him a bye on this one. I know how much your wife means to you, and a birth. Problem is only gets worst with the Bucs game unless Brittany lets Drew know.

pherein 10-10-2010 09:03 PM

true strato ROFL, but you've been there. Football would not be #1 in your head. I haven't seen #'s like that for Drew in a while. There is no way for him to concentrate unless this kid is born. You know, your a father.

Rusty 10-10-2010 09:05 PM

no let the baby get as it was ment to be this man deserves it he has won a title for us we owe it to be patient for him and his wife and a child who coulde be a future for the SAINTS and LSU After the child is here you will see a fire like it was for Braylon but double be Paitent :bng:

Rusty 10-10-2010 09:11 PM

strato you said it best

QBREES9 10-10-2010 09:11 PM

I thinks it's going to be a boy. We all do have bad days.

completely agree. If you agree that the last pass was for an int was Waaay below Breeses level. Clearly his mind is somewhere else I think.

SaintPauly 10-10-2010 10:24 PM

What if he IS hurt though guys? He's been off, since week one. He usually passes for 300 on his bad days. I'm not saying that he isn't stressed about the kid, but his entire form looks off.

dont know where this is coming from with 24/39 and 3 ints. We all have bad days, but for a reason. You know your kid will be born in 2 weeks, worried about your wife and your head isn't in the game. My point.

Leave all the women aside on this forum, and please don't respond wives its not something we like to talk about.

Really, how worried about he woman you love and your child are you at this point. Your close to nuts, if you care. Its all you can think of.

st thomas 10-10-2010 11:04 PM

did she have the child, everything ok? i'm in the blind here

Na suppose to be born next week. But as a husband, how nuts are you.

SaintPauly 10-10-2010 11:23 PM

I'm understanding what you are saying Ph, but how many NFL players do you know of that DON'T have kids? It's like I said, when your job is as important, as starting QB for the world champion saints, you gotta rise above that stuff. You don't get mulligan's in the NFL.

yeah, your right. But it is to much of a coincidence to not explain one of the worse games Ive seen Brees play. Brees lost this game, he looked like Palmer out there.

Im now wondering if we can beat the Bucs, they are better than the cards.

TheOak 10-11-2010 06:30 AM

C'Mon Man! Bree's interceptions? Count the number of interceptions he is taking the gig on that were dead in receivers hands! I am giving the receiving corps all the blame/credit for 90% of them. Two of them last night were from being under extreme pressure and having to move the ball large chunks at a time in the last qtr.

This being caused by people who can not HOLD ON TO THE BALL!

winmill1 10-11-2010 08:42 AM

i don't think it has anything to do with his kids. I think he is injured and not saying anything.

HAHA! If it improves the game, then I am with you! Induce!! If I were Mrs. Brees, I would surely do that for the team. I'm just saying.....

TheOak 10-11-2010 10:48 AM

Cant blame his wife......... Unless she used a turkey baster.

NOLA54 10-11-2010 11:04 AM

My impression is that he looked distracted all day. I'm hoping improvement is on the way.

Beastmode 10-11-2010 11:36 AM

There is plenty of blame to go around.. O line, fumbles, dropped balls, focus, play calling, injuries. None of those factors hurt em' last year. They overcame all of it and some. Everthing hit them in the face this season. Despite all those factors they are still keeping the games close. Very close. I think a lot of Saints fans are overlooking that fact. They are going to overcome some of that stuff and get back on track. Still a lot of football left folks.

darstep 10-11-2010 12:02 PM

Drew may have a lot on his mind, but its not just Drew. Last year receivers didn't allow DB's to step in front for picks. They fought for the ball and forced their will on opponents. They got the tip, the bounce, and the take-away. Just looks like a rebalancing of the cosmos to some sort of equalibrium. Last year Drew overthrows for a pick, and Devery robs the DB at gunpoint and runs it in for a TD. Last year that "throw to the back shoulder" crap worked because the DB just wasn't looking. This year we cause a fumble and their guy scoops it up and runs it in. Last year we won 3 games because of missed chip shots by our opponents, this year we've already lost 2 on so-called missed chip shots. I think LSU is using up all the MOJO.

We have a winner!

poydras 10-11-2010 12:31 PM

um ... everyone is aware that ALL our starting running backs are injured ... right? We have no running game and everyone is playing the pass. Let's wait for Bush and Thomas to return before we start thinking Drew has lost it.

LMFAO

Srgt. Hulka 10-11-2010 01:22 PM

Now, there is nothing more important in my life than my kids...nothing.
With that said, If I'm making $650,000 per game, and I know it could be gone at any time, during any game, I think I'm giving 100% of myself every game, even if my wife is sitting at home pregnant. First of all, there is nothing I can do to help the prganancy go better or smoother for her. Drew Brees needs to get his head in the game and off that baby, off the interviews, and off all the other distractions, especially if the alternative is sitting at home listening to his wife moan and groan about being pregnant and hollering "YOU DID THIS TO ME!!" all day.

Just a thought.

Speedy Ron 10-11-2010 01:45 PM

unless the baby belongs to the mail man...this is no issue

darstep 10-11-2010 01:58 PM

I'm with you Sarg. The best thing Drew could do is be able to tell baby girl how he torched some team for 400 the day she was born. I perform on my job for my family. Its more than Drew's home concerns. Routes aren't crisp, balls are being dropped, adjustments aren't being made, protection is breaking down, running game is lacking, turnovers, penalties at the most inopportune times ...I think I'll just stop.

Have to admit you're right. The screens to PT and the dump offs to Reggie are pretty sweet. We had kind of gotten used to the 12-20 they would give us in a pinch.

aquaboogie 10-11-2010 03:12 PM

I don't think his wife has anything to do with it. What number does she wear anyway? The players and coaches have to do a better job of preparing, executing, and eliminatiing mistakes

cmon... lets dont do that.

skymike 10-11-2010 05:09 PM

Anyway, I go to work to get away from my family.

When Im working, Im ON. Im on target, Im cold stone focused, and the last thing on my mind is my family. They'll be there when I get home. I have a job to do, and people to kill.

OldMaid 10-11-2010 08:44 PM

Strato, so funny.

I saw the 60 Mins. piece on Drew and Brittany too.
She said she would not let him know if labor was on and it was game day .
Yes,they are human. This is a critical time for him and a special time.
I get that.
I give him more credit that some of you wondering if his child's birth had something to with yesterday's lost.
Brees is a proball player. Yeah,he can compartmentalize his child's birth and his job.
The game and prepping for it and he and his wife prepping for their baby.

Heres hope to her for a good labor and their healthy fat, little cute, baby boy.

OldMaid 10-11-2010 08:50 PM

And SkyMike, you go to work for your family.
For yourself. Family and work sort of go together and yet don't.
The saying...Dont' take work to home and don't take family to work is true.
Brees, like all of us, can focus on work at work and family at family time.

OldMaid 10-11-2010 08:58 PM

Also, Brittany Brees seems a really together girl.
As it has been said that wives/girlfriends with partners in that profession really have to be confident ,strong in personality, etc. to make major decisons and things. Same goes for anyone who has a husband or for you guys, a wife, who does not have a 9-5 kind of career.
Brittany Brees is having no complications or anything ,thank God.
We can be sure she has a great crew of family/friends with her .Give Mrs. Drew (Brittany) Brees tons of credit.

You got me there. Once again, you know I aint serious.
But my wife thinks I forget her when Im working.

Saintswrath 10-12-2010 08:17 AM

Awww. All Brees got on his mind is that baby and thats ok with me actually.. but SPIT IT OUT ALREADY BRIT! lol.. love ya!

SaintPauly 10-12-2010 05:59 PM

I just want to point out, that Troy Polamalu's second child, was born on September 16th. Anybody remember the game he played week one, against Atlanta? Defense played lights out, and he was one of the key players to shut down Atlanta's passing offense. That was on the 12th. Week 2, which was about four days after the birth, he did the same thing. I believe that was the game where he dived over the oline, to tackle someone on the goal line. I guess it doesn't effect every father the same way.......
