Saints sign Matt Giordano and Julius Jones; release Carney and Wynn
The New Orleans Saints are fresh off their second loss of the season after losing to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday so it appears some changes were in order. THe team made four roster moves on Tuesday and they were by no means small either.
Safety Matt Giordano and running back Julius Jones were both signed by the Saints on Tuesday while running back DeShawn Wynn and kicker John Carney were released. ~ Giordano is a free agent safety who is a six-year veteran that has played for the Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and Atlanta Falcons. Playing in 60 career games and making six starts, Giordana has tallied 79 tackles, three interceptions, four pass defenses, and 38 additional tackles on special teams. ~ Jones was recently released by the Seattle Seahawks after also having played for the Dallas Cowboys in this his seventh season in the NFL. Jones has played in 85 career games with 75 starts. His stats are very impressive as he has racked up 4,875 yards on 1,232 carries with 22 touchdowns and he has caught 133 passes for 970 yards and two more touchdowns. To make way for the two new additions, Carney and Wynn were released. Wynn was brought up from the practice squad two games ago after Pierre Thomas was scratched with an ankle injury. Carney's tenure with the team has only been two weeks after being signed to help young kicker Garrett Hartley. General Manager Mickey Loomis also announced that linebacker Harry Coleman was released from the practice squad and cornerback Reggie Jones was signed to take his place. |
