Any word on the chain guy?

Is there any news on the chain guy who got injured in the game? I hope he's okay, it looked pretty scary.

Fox at 9 is supposed to give an update. I heard he had bleeding on the brain, but is stable and will be o.k. If there is anything different reported I will post.

His head really bounced on the ground. It looked pretty scary.

Chain gang people are going to have to start wearing gear.

Latest word is mild concussion, appears he is going to be fine.

He's going to be excellent when that check is cut.

I agree. Look at icehockey where all the refs wear helmets. Such an easy way to protect yourself from harm. I know the hat is used to throw when somebody leaves the field of play during a play but give them a blue flag or something for that instead.

Fined? For what? Getting pushed out of bounds? Its not like he hit the man on purpose. He puts his hands up but thats a natural reaction when you se something at the last second like that.

If you saw the play and the multiple replays, Roby had at least 5 yards to cut back into the field of play.

That being said. What does the NFL expect when they allow 200+lb freight trains to be pushed out of bounds at full speed? I am surprised no one has been hurt before with receivers being pushed out of bounds in mid air.

My initial reaction was also that he could have stopped. It was close, but it did look a bit intentional.

I'm sure it wasn't, but it sure looked that way.

He had time to avoid contact. He absolutely didn't have to shove the guy with the force he did. The chain guy should have been more aware of the situation. Almost every gunner on that play always gets shoved out of bounds. It's the NFL. It's the biggest, strongest, fastest, and meanest guys around in a 60 minute, all-out battle. It should be used as a teaching tool for all so hopefully this can be avoided in the future.

No man, this one is on Roby. He is the athlete. Plus he had plenty of time to get back into the field of play (which he was flagged for not doing) or avoid the guy...besides what could a 50+ year old, overweight guy have done to avoid him anyway?

TheOak 10-25-2010 08:41 AM

I was just discussing this with a C-Worker who said he was at a full run and didn't have time to veer.

To which I replied. "If Roby had the ball and there was 5 yards between him and Ricky Jackson was coming at his ass, he would have found a way to cut."
