Saints RB Bush unable to practice on leg, likely out Sunday
New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush remains sidelined with a leg injury, and it's highly unlikely he will return this week, a league source said Wednesday.
Bush wasn't able to practice Wednesday, and a team source said no final determination has been made on the running back's status for Sunday night's showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, it doesn't look promising. For more on the New Orleans Saints, check out the latest from our bloggers. Bush expressed optimism Monday that he could practice on his healing right leg, which he fractured during a Week 2 victory at San Francisco. Bush said team doctors had told him he could test his leg at full-speed, and he planned to do that Wednesday. "I expect to go out there and see what I can do," Bush said Monday. "I don't know if I can practice, if I'm going to be 100 percent. I'm just going to go out there and give it my best shot. I feel good, but I haven't gone out there." Bush said his leg had responded well to strength and conditioning exercises with the training staff during the past few weeks. However, he expressed concern about making the sharp, lateral cuts typically required of him during games. The Saints (4-3), who went 2-3 in the five games that Bush has missed, also don't have starting running back Pierre Thomas, who has been slow to recover from an ankle injury. |
Not the news I was hoping to hear, but I can't say this surprises me. With the types of cuts RB makes, how can this be a surprise to anyone? From day 1 of this injury I said no way he comes back in 4 to 6!

If he's not ready then he should sit out and work on his moral supporting skills. In one game then out for two is not the way to go. We could use his services down the stretch and into the post season (there, I said it). A healthy Reggie is a productive Reggie. A gimpy Reggie would just be a waste and may hinder his career. We will see you when you are ready...we can wait.

Noone in this league can pound the Steelers into submission...it isn't possible to do...Chris Ivory will get hurt in this game...im taking bets

It would have been great to see Reggie back on the field and wow, do we need him back. But if he is not ready then there is no point in him trying to play while still being hurt, or we could lose him for the whole season.

Maybe it's true but coaches play a chess match with injured players every week and I don't see how this one is any different. I'm willing to bet he'll be on the field come Monday. He's young, healthy, good diet. I'm going with it's healed. Even if it's not, the Steelers are going to have to use practice time to account for him either way.
