YES. PLEASE LET THAT HAPPEN. Although I won't be betting my paycheck on it....

Well its a post right after Moore's best week as a pro, in our toughest game of 2010, and the week Colston drops 3 passes.

I'm surprised the poll was this close.

I will put it this way. With the way they are ALL playing this season..

5 seconds left on the clock and behind by 5 points. on the 50 yard line...

My choice is Moore... All day. Quite simply, he rarely drops balls that hit him in the hands, and he gains more after the catch.

While both Colston and Moore have a 67% catch rate, Moore has 5 TD's to Colstons 2.

Moore is Number 20 In the whole NFL in YAC (yards after catch).. Colston does not even make the top 20 for the NFC.
STATS Hosted Solution - Football - NFL - Leaders - Yards After Catch (Receivers)

Henderson has a 59% catch rate.

I'd rather see JJ or Ivory go off on the Panthers to be honest. I wanna see us run the effin ball some.

We have a problem:

We have too many GOOD receivers and none of them will achieve EXCELLENCE because there are so many choices for Brees.

Now, it's a great problem to have, but it will eventually take a toll on the play of the receiver who is no longer in "favor". Favor in the sense that Moore is experiencing "favor" now.

Receivers play for; 1. A Ring (Sense of belonging) 2. Money (Security) 3. Touchdowns and yards (Future Security)

A ring can never be guaranteed.

Money can, but only if you are a standout. The Saints won't allow standout.

So all that's left is Touchdowns and Stats. With our breadth, no one gets their fill of that either. When you're HOT, you're HOT and when you're not, you're not going to play with the same agression as when you're hot.

My argument with respect to Meachem was that he rarely drops a ball and usually creates a big play when he gets the attention of Brees. I think he just needs a pink helmet, I mean, right now you can wear just about anything pink, right!?

Love the thread, guys.

Really passes the week to the next game.

Brees choices have nothing to do with Dropped balls % or YAC

This is true, and I voted for him, but he doesn't run the same routes as Colston. Man I swear he gets lit up over the middle at least once a week.

UK_WhoDat 11-08-2010 04:10 PM

Lance Moore. That was easy

I get frustrated with every game I watch or go to and see Colston dropping the perfect throws, but then making an unbelievable catch when he's double covered and knowing that he's gonna get hammered as soon as he catches it. I believe that because of Colston, he has drawn the coverage away from Moore and some of the other guys because other teams still see him as a threat. Don't get me wrong, Moore has been a beast, but I've seen him fumble when it really hurt us. Never thought I would say it, but I'm going with Colston simply because he allows the other guys an opportunity to do what they do. Gotta respect dat.

AlaskaSaints 11-09-2010 08:35 PM

I just want to back up and take back everything good I may have said about Meachem. I'm very disappointed this week. (after Panthers)

I'm looking to get behind one of our receivers but I'm frustrated with the lack of 'standout' consisnency.

Anybody want to re-vote. Maybe look where Colston is compared to other 7th round picks in the league.

Not me, I stand with my Colston vote.:)

SaintPauly 11-22-2010 11:20 AM

Moore wasn't drafted at all I don't think was he?

SaintPauly 11-23-2010 04:40 AM

Hate to tell you this Strat, but Moore lanslided Colston in the vote.... just saying....

But the poll was taken after one of Moore's best game as a Saint, and one of Colston's worse.

Colston is our best WR, and I'd venture to say a poll of NFL players would agree with that.

TheOak 11-23-2010 10:02 AM

Different people define "Best" differently. Some look at stats, some remember an amazing or awful play....

Colston definitely turned his game around last Sunday.

I have a hard time getting the images of his dropping balls hitting him in the hands out of my head...

SaintPauly 11-23-2010 01:17 PM

By ability, Colston might be the best receiver on the team, but not by showing up EVERY week. Moore is solid every week. Acrobatic catches with one hand, while in mid air? You kiddin me?

What does that matter? Just because he is good for a 7th round pick doesn't make him the best reciever on the team. Yea he may be the best active receiver taken in a late round, but what does that have to do with him compared to other receivers on the team.

dasaints26 11-23-2010 07:01 PM

I brought up him being a 7th round pick because he is tied for 3rd in the league with receptions. Sucks he is tied with T.O. because they are not very similiar personalities on the field. Was great to see Colston catch that pass then have 2 defenders bounce off him then just hand the ball to the ref after that TD.

Colston is 3rd in the league with 62 receptions. Moore might be 3rd on our team with 38 receptions. 46th in the league.

As far as yards Colston is 13th in the league. Moore is 45th in the league.

Of course this is only stats it doesnt prove who is better. Colston goes unguarded most games the only time he was double teamed was on that TD catch I mentioned earlier.

CashAndFlash 11-23-2010 07:05 PM

I voted Colston (today), but they're both indispensable.

Everything I have heard has been about how much of a class act the guy is. He is humble and lets his play do the talking. I like Colston alot, If I am forced to choose I would have to say Lance is the best right now, but that doesnt mean Colston is disposable.
