Pierre Thomas almost traded to Pats?
TRADE WINDS
Word out of Foxborough, Mass., is that Saints running back Pierre Thomas (injured left ankle and all) apparently was close to becoming a member of the New England Patriots. New Orleans Saints Notebook: Tracy Porter close to return; Pierre Thomas almost traded |
We wanted to Trade PT for a cornerback! even though we are getting like 3 of our healthy ones back in the next 2 weeks, if its true that absolutely sucks!!
PT can't be replaced like that, hes too much of an assett to our team, we better not be alienating our best players. |
No idea how much truth there is to this, but the writing may be on the wall that PT is not part of the Saints immediate or future plans. He is a very talented RB, but I guess at some point the Saints will need to pull the plug on him.
|
Devil's adovate ... do the Saints really need PT with a healthy Reggie and Ivory?
|
PT is only hurting himself by playing dice with this injury, he's not getting any gametime which means his value is shrinking either way, if he's being told by his agent to not play and fake the injury then he need to be traded and we need to get the best we can from losing him, if it's a real injury and he can come back soon thats great and i hope we pay him eventually, but if Bush is coming back from a Broken leg and we're getting other players back from various other more lethal injuries i truly believe he's faking it.

The Saints are going to have to pay Drew...he isn't going anywhere. Reggie is getting big bucks and a slew of others contracts need to be negotiated. Hamilton will be back next year, now Ivory with journeymen Jones and Betts at minimums. |

PIERRE THOMAS FOR GOVERNOR!!! |
I don't see Pierre as the type of player who would fake an injury and sit out this long. This is his contract year... and if he wants to get any sort of long term commitment from this team or any other team for that matter, and for a good dollar amount, he would not be faking injury. I read a report somewhere a week ago that he's been to 3 specialist... and was advised not to get back on the field.

Nothing. In addition to sporting a walking boot Thursday, Pierre Thomas (ankle) was also getting around with the aid of crutches. Thomas says his ankle has "gotten a lot better," and he's only following his foot and ankle specialist's orders to take pressure off. Although the swelling has gone down, Thomas is "upset" that he's not making more tangible progress. "I really don't know what's the whole problem," he said. "Everybody keeps saying it's a sprain or maybe a little tear there. I don't know for sure if that's true. I'm hearing so many different stories. I don't know what to believe." We don't expect to see him in game action before Week 11. Source: NewOrleans.com A foot and ankle specialist has advised Pierre Thomas to get back in a walking boot and reduce the workload on his injured ankle. It's the third doctor to evaluate Thomas since he sustained the injury a month ago. The specialist's advice suggests Thomas can't just "tough it out" as coach Sean Payton would like. It's not going to make Payton feel any better about his extended absence, though. Thomas missed practice again Thursday, and a Week 11 return after the Saints' bye looks like the most likely scenario at this point. Source: Jeff Duncan on Twitter Let's flush that not a team player non-sense down the toilet. Absolutely nothing suggest that and he's been a consummate professional since he's put on a Saints uniform. |
Thomas is not faking his injury, he has no incentive to. However, the Saints have to be frustrated with him at this point. Dude has not stayed healthy for most of his stay. He adds extreme value to the Saints both running and receiving, but at some point the Saints have to move on.

Faking an injury just makes absolutely no sense. What does he have to gain from it? Is it going gain him any leverage in contract negotiations? I hate to see this for the guy. He's worked hard to get where he is and now when he's in a position to cash in this happens to him.
Get well soon P.T. and good luck with the rest of your season and career. |
I don't buy it. I was surprised PT even got back in the game after that weird turn.
I don't think PT is a bad RB but he isn't anything close to warrant Steven Jackson money though. A lot of players are actually benefiting from being in this system of Sean's. Seriously these guys have to realize that. |
With PT in the game we have the best screen game in the business. He is elusive and powerful with good speed. I like him a lot. He is the perfect runner for the system. Ivory doesn't understand how to read a block he just runs into the blockers back. He has no vision.

you can't make the club if your in the tube. You also can't paid either.
|
How can you be an effective RB running on one foot?
|
The trade actually makes alot of sense. he wont be here next year so we obviously wont get anything for him when he walks. the way it looks now he wont even get on the field this year. i would take mccourty in a second. yes we have good corners but porter cant stay healthy and by the looks of it neither can robinson. mccourty is better than robinson anyway. i would also take one of their safeties.
to me this trade would have been great. we wont get anything for the guy now. |
can the dude not just be hurt? that's what i'm going with...
|
Manning becomes a FA at the end of the season???
|
it has to be ligament damage. a surgery puts him on ir if not 50-50 he'll play again theis year. it has to be that simple. faking an injury kills career.if he's around or i should say if we're around for the playoffs pt could be as fresh as a spring chicken going in. reggies going to be back, it will take some heat off drew and wrs
|
Without PT, I don't think we would be world champions right now. The guy plays with extreme heart, and determination. If he is looking to be overpaid, then I understand his leaving, (although, I don't see any teams that will pay him that type of money anywhere else either). Would love to keep this guy if possible.
|
I've always thought PT was a good strong back....but he is not very quick! Ivory is quick and strong. With a little coaching, Ivory is all that PT is and more, for less money and no whining about a contract. I like PT but if he gone then I trust enough in he organization that our running game will not take a hit.
