ESPN: Saints Cut Grady Jackson
ESPN Reports...
New Orleans Saints: The Saints cut defensive tackle Grady Jackson on Monday, one day after he served a one-game suspension for what team officials called "conduct detrimental to the team," ESPN's John Clayton reports. Jackson failed to stay at the team's hotel on the Saturday night before the game against the Carolina Panthers. Even for home games, the Saints have a rule about staying together at the same hotel the night before the game. Jackson was suspended without pay, and he missed Sunday's 17-14 win over the Bucs. Wow....this is a shocker.
I really don\'t like our DL depth right now. Guys like Kenny Smith and Kendrick Allen won\'t be able to say they didn\'t get fair shots after this. |

I think Ford is coming back, and with Howard coming back Whitehead can move to DT
Hmmm.... [b:f75c489e38]1st string DE Howard DT Sullivan DT Whitehead / Ford / Allen DE Grant Not a bad starting DL huh? [Edited on 3/11/2003 by tweeky] |

Haslett said he thought it would be better if Grady was\'nt here with all the young players on this team. Grady\'s money is guarenteed so looks like the Saints cancer hits again. Yea Tweeky I like that line rotation as well but when will it hit the field?

I saw Ford on the sidelines Sunday. Maybe he\'s ready to play finally. Can\'t say this was totally unexpected.

That Cancer Hazlett needs to keep his stinking hands off of Rick Venturi\'s defense and let the man coach his unit. If he wants to go wrecking a unit, why doesn\'t he start on the underperforming offense? :casstet: |

What a ball bust on the Deadskins .
Deadskins originallly came sniffing around for Jackson during preseason and the Saints said No. Deadskins were so desperate they signed Russell and now Jackson is clear . |
ESPN: Saints Cut Grady Jackson
They sure were bad last night, Collinsworth was blasting the skins as harshly as I\'ve heard a commentator go at a team on national T.V. Snyder must be banging his wife. Spurrier is losing control of that team.

Couldn\'t we have gotten something for him after the season? If the money is guaranteed, that means we still pay him, right?
Obviously, we gave him what he wanted. He was playing well; someone will have him in uniform by the weekend. Kinda odd how many players we have to get rid of each year... does the team practice near a nuclear waste dump? |

He must of pissed Haslett off good with his pinky problem not to even try to keep him around for depth. After reading that article about Whitehead and watching the effort Horn and some others are giving playing through injuries I do like the tone it sets about the effort expected on this team. Ihave heard rumblings about Stallworth\'s not playing as well. |

Thanks for the contract info. Didn\'t think of that. I don\'t think we\'ll have to worry about another team not picking him up. We\'ve already seen how effective he can be when motivated. |

Alright , so Haslett has deemed Grady Jackson a non coacheable underachiever by his standard , so soon to be added to my list of other underachiever or distracting players from last week .
Dallas 5-2 player: RDT Glover Carolina 6-1 player: QB Delhomme and LB Charlie Clemmons St. Louis 5-2 player: QB Bulger and RT Turley Miami 5-2 player: RB Williams and S Sammy Knight Kansas City 8-0 player: LT Willie Roaf Seattle Seahawks 5-2 player : DT Norman Hand Where will Grady go ???? |

Very hard to argue with those facts, 08.
It\'s getting difficult to continue trusting a regime that keeps kicking productive players to the curb. Is there any other franchise that\'s had this much turnover at starting positions under one head coach? I mean, we\'re only on year four, right? I sure hope Deuce, Bentley and Grant stay away from those darned carcinogens. |

He was suspended for the Tampa game. I was surprised he actually made the team this year.

Delhomme sucks. He a rag-armed stiff who\'s only attribute is he has a sweet hand-off to the real talent. Clemons is under fire. They are not happy with him. And his team sucks. Clemons is what? 2-6? Oh but he did put an asss-whipping on that talentless hack Delhomme didn\'t he? Bulger? We had Blake, your lover Delhomme, Brooks, and Bulger. I guess you keep all 5? Bulger is a product of Martz system. On any other team he\'s 3rd string. Turley? He is a huge dissappointment at LT in St Louis. He didn\'t even make the starting line-up at LT. 2nd stringer. He\'s constantly getting rag-dolled. But he\'d probably be a better QB than that no-talent Delhomme. Rickey Williams? Gimme a break. I guess you\'d rather we dumped Deuce. The Miami press are already complaining he\'s run out of gas and goes down with arm-tackles now. A 250 lb finesse back? Sammy Knight? Bellamy is palying better than Knight did all last year. He\'d be 3rd string on this team. Besides, he left, we didn\'t cut him. Norman Hand? He\'s already a part time player in Seattle. If we wanted an out-of-shape underachiever we\'d have kept Jackson. The only thing more disappointing than this pathetic desperate grasp is the fact that some are not able to see thru this vomit. You powers are growing weak old man. |

Drop it Tweeky. 08 will lead you down the wrong path. To disagree with his total nonsense is dangerous to your login here. Just forget about 08 and his hatred for the Saints. He\'s a Panthers fan in sheeps clothing anyway.

PFW reports :
We hear that Jackson has been nothing but a distraction to rookie first-round draft pick DT Johnathan Sullivan. Team officials are not ready to label Sullivan a bust but admit that he has been a disappointment. Sullivan is still a work in progress and lacks self-motivation, an area in which Jackson’s poor example has had an effect. The Saints will make no effort to re-sign Jackson, who is in the last year of his contract. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this makes sense . You could do that for just about any team in the league. Its silly. Its like saying ice-cream causes rape because statistics show that rapes increase as the consumption of ice cream increases. Hint: Its because both increase in the Summer. Don\'t fall for 08\'s agenda. He\'s actually Bill Clinton\'s evil-er twin brother. He\'ll now try to tie Grady Jackson to Green Bay\'s success. Or even Michael Hawthorne. [Edited on 5/11/2003 by tweeky] |

08 also seemed to leave Joe Johnson of the list when he posted Green Bay with Grady Jackson. I\'m sure the five games Joe has started since leaving the Saints has really helped Green Bay get to 4-4 this year and the playoffs last year.
What we should be looking at is the contribution these players are making to their current teams versus what they are being paid and whether the Saints could have paid it. There\'s only one player on that list that I think is real value for the team he is with that the Saints could have kept ... LaRoi Glover. Roaf may be having a good season, but he didn\'t want to be here anymore. Under the circumstances, it\'s a good thing to let a player like that go. We got some extra picks as part of the trade so as long as we make good draft choices the trade worked out. It\'s just a shame that the trade deadline had passed already this year or we\'d have gotten at least a 6th rd pick for Grady. Since it had passed the only optioin was cutting him. |
ESPN: Saints Cut Grady Jackson
Also, now that GB has claimed him, we don\'t have to pay him for the rest of the season.
I also heard that 3 new chicken-wing joints just opened up in Green Bay. ;) Is it possible to actually crack the frozen tundra? 08, is Jackson now your new flame now that Jakey-poo has completely flamed out in Carolina? ;) |
