Terrible, terrible. Whichever way we look at it.
And it was only during the game chat room that many were admiring Will Smith for his play and his misses for her looks. |

I asked if anyone knew what happened to make him go bizzerk. She may have done nothing but Will Smith isn't known for just beating his wife up, unless I'm wrong. |
Ok, some of you know what I do so I'll chime in on this one....
First: The police witnessed the two arguing. Then they saw it "escalate" and they saw him grab her by the hair and drag her. Now, I don't know Louisiana state law, but I know Idaho law and most states have similar domestic abuse laws. In some states, police don't have to witness a battery (especially domestic battery) actually occur to make and arrest. They just have to have enough evidence to show cause for an arrest. As someone suggested earlier, police cannot arrest someone on a charge of domestic battery (or any other charge) if they don't have the evidence to show that a crime occurred and the suspect is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I find it hard to believe that there is any state or local agency that would advocate the arrest of an individual after a "non-violent family fight" or "arguement". That is against the U.S. Constitution. What they can do is have one party leave or "suggest" that one party leave to let things cool down. In Idaho (again not sure about Louisiana), the victim of domestic abuse does not have to press charges on the suspect. If the police have enough evidence to show that the suspect did indeed commit the crime, they can arrest and the state charges the suspect. This is because of the "battered wife syndrome" as some call it, in which the victim is too afraid of retalitation to actually press charges. Bottom line is this: From what I read on NFL.com, the police witnessed the battery occur. Which probably means they arrested Will for a crime that they witnessed occur. This means, the charges may or may not have been pressed by Will's wife and it also means that he will not get a plea bargain or deal. The fact the officers witnessed it makes it that much stronger of a case. |

I'm not trying to get into a big hoopla with anyone...just wanted to let everyone know what I gathered from the report on NFL.com and what the legal situation might be.

None really unless your talking about someone who wants to get physical.

I wish the NFL would deal with the problem of domestic violence. It just seems like you hear far more domestic abuse stories in the NFL than in other sports. In any case, this one doesn't sound nearly as bad as the Steven Jackson one or the multiple Brandon Marshall stories I've read about. That doesn't excuse it, however, and it's extremely disappointing. Having said that, the Saints probably have the cleanest off-field lives of any NFL team I can think of.

I agree with what's been said before. There is NO REASON to lay hands on a woman other than to caress her lovingly. I'll take a few shots and leave before I strike a woman. Period.
I hate to see this and I hope things work out. |

Olivia Newton John wanted to get physical.
Nothing good can come out of being in a night club at 2am. Bottom Line. |
Smith needs a ps3, so he can be up until 4am and doing something productive with his time.

i mean here we are with a married couple with kids clubbing it up at 2am. My odds are on something going bad. |
Anyone here ever wake up to a woman, sitting on your chest, with a butcher knife on your throat? I did. My ex was on anti-depressants, and drinking all day long, plus any other drug she could find. Her moods switched, and swung, on an hourly basis. I was walking in the door one time, and she came out of my blind spot, and hit me in the stomach with a baseball bat. Threw a cordless phone at me, and busted my head open. Got mad at me at a NIN concert, and started punching me in the face, right in front of security. Threw one of my electric guitars at me. Stabbed me with a ball point pen, and tried to choke me with a phone line. I grew up in the south, and had this misplaced obligation, to stay married, because that's the way I was raised to be. Took me ten years to finally "leave". Never punched her in these situations, but hands were laid out to restrain her. When it comes to marriages, or relationships, you NEVER know the whole story, so it's best to stay out of it.

Dude, eHarmony they have 29 DIMENSIONS of compatibility............j/k
Your right Saintpaul25. I work as advance life support for kerr ambulance for 4 years, domestic violence is rampant and almost always involves 2 parties. Little over 1/2 of my calls we domestic stabbings, shootings,etc.. and the story usually isn't as simple as it appeared at the time. Better to wait until its explained to us. |

I thought made Will MIB Smith had put the beat down on Jada Pinkett and her overrated self...
But i realize now that it was too good to be true that the Saints Will Smith had finally turned a corner... Guess what we will be doing in FA and upcoming draft?!? |
Gotta Love Wikipedia; it's like the Jedi Archives...
Already updated to reflect the arrest... |
Gotta love the American "public" justice system... Guilty, until proven innocent... Why don't we just lock him up now, and save the tax dollars huh? ........
