Our new qb for next year
I'm thinking maybe we draft a guy in round one after we trade away EGOMAN Brooks. I'm praying Manning, but I think Roethisberger is more realistic. I would also make a play for Drew Henson. We trade idiot Brooks for a one, trade that pick to Houston to get the rights to draft Henson. Hey, he couldn't do any worse than the clown we have in there now. If your doubting that Brooks is not a clown, watch and see his performance this week and you'll be believers. Thank god for Duece and Horn.

Return of the SwampDork.
Well at least he makes all of us feel good about ourselves. I was hoping he quit our board and joined a Falcon Board, thereby raising the IQ level of both. [Edited on 13/11/2003 by tweeky] |

The word for the day is \"EXPOSED\", and my work here is done.
But it wasn\'t really that hard. Please hold your applause. |

Horn is good but need to step it up as well. 2 weeks ago I watched him drop 3 key passes.
Brooksisbanks will see when Vick comes in and messes the proverbial bed in a crappy way the begins w/ s. Vick is overrated. |

Ok. everyone. Fill in the blank:
Anna Kournikova is to tennis greatness as BROOKSISBANKS is to _________________. My lame answer is \"football genius.\" I\'m sure this forum can give an answer better than that. Let\'s hear \'em! |

You may be right, but you did not answer the correct question so you get a zero on this exam. Next!
btw, In response to your initial post on this thread, if you think that trading away an experienced, 6 year, starting QB to be replaced by a ANY rookie would help this team win more games, you live in la-la land. This is not about whether Brooks is right for this team or not. It is about whether any of the QBs you mentioned could help us next year. I think the resounding and true answer is NO. I would also bet that the majority of the football knowledgable world would agree. |

With all due respect SR, noone thought that Brooks was anything more than an afterthought after we picked him up. The fact is, we\'ll never know what another qb can do until he\'s under center. I can guarantee you there are qb\'s out there more consistant and better leaders. PERIOD!

Damn, I this thread is like deja vu. I feel I have read it before, although the mindless drivel was posted by a different name. Again, back to your wet dream of having Eli come play for us. It’s never going to happen. The Saints aren’t going to get one of the top spots in the draft. More than likely the Chargers will. As I told Swampy about a month ago, the Chargers weren’t all that happy with Brees. Oh, look what’s happened now. Do you think that they think Flutie (who is amazing) is their future. Nope, they will be picking up someone new this year. That is where Eli will be going.

I\'m Sorry, but stating that I believe that you are not a football genius (in a blatently bad, comedic attempt) is not an insult. It is my opinion of you and your football acumen based on your writing.
You resorted to name calling and cursing, not me. |

I guess you\'ve never heard of Kurt Warner or Drew Henson. What makes you think the Chargers won\'t want to go that route. Besides, Eli isn\'t done yet. He could have bad outings his last three games. Fact is, Matt Mauck from LSU has equal if not better stats than Eli. Don\'t think teams won\'t see that, my friend. BTW, please check my original post in it\'s entirety. I said we probably wont\' get Eli.

ScottyRo is absolutely right. Furthermore, drafting a QB is a crap shoot. And, even if you do get a good one, it is no guarantee of going to the super bowl. Just look at Peyton Manning who is \"the greatest QB to never win a playoff game.\"

I’m not into talking the garbage about Brooks. But I do have to question if the Saints need to look at a back-up QB. Bourman’s contract is only 1 year, making him a FA. What do we do for next year? Should we draft or look to pick up a solid back up, or resign?
|
Our new qb for next year
It is going to be one of my big regrets about this season if we can\'t get Bouman in to do some playing to see if he\'s worth keeping. I would think that managment would prefer to keep him if he was worth bringing in at all.
Otherwise, I don\'t know what the FA market is going to be next year for backup QBs. |
Our new qb for next year
If the Saints are so bad they have a shot at getting Eli, they should use it. This won\'t happen though. Using our first round draft choice for a backup QB ... I think we have other needs. Unless a Chris Simms type quarterback falls in our lap in round 3 or 4, the Saints shouldn\'t draft one at all.
Just sign the MVP of the Arena Football League or Doug Flutie as a backup. |

BnB, can I get a Die Thread Die picture?

I agree with not drafting a QB this year. I think we have other priorities. Although haveing Flutie would be amazing...

I know I\'m a little late, but Drew Henson? Why don\'t we trade Brooks and Deuce for two #1\'s and trade for the rights to Henson and Chris Wienke. I\'m not happy with Brooks inconsistency either, but trading him for the rights to Drew Henson has to be the dumbest thing I\'ve ever heard.
and for canucksaint, your right about the chargers not being happy with Brees, but I really believe the problem there is the coaching and not Brees\'s ablility, and no Im not saying Brees is better than Brooks or Eli or even Drew Henson. I believe the Chargers decision will be based on wether or not Marty is still coaching in San Diego next year. If we look at the standings right now a lot of the teams with records equal to or worse than ours already have their \"quaterback of the future\". By this I mean Detroit, Atlanta, the New York Jets, Cleveland, Cinncinnati, Houston, Jacksonville, and San Fran. However, there are still quite a few teams who would draft a qb early: Arizona, Chicago, Oakland, and Pittsburgh. I\'m not sure what the Bills would do considering Bledsoes contract. My point is there are plenty of teams that will have early round picks that will be willing to trade. [Edited on 16/11/2003 by progress] |

The unfortunate thing is that we will not have a record poor enough to get a really good QB but, hey, it would not matter. We could trade Brooks for Purdue\'s Ben Jones. Despite the difference in \"skill\" positions, we would not see any drop of performance!!!!!!!!
